I hooked all up and the head unit doesn't seem to recognize the interface. The destructions mentioned that it may take up to 3 minutes to recognize it, but it never did. All I am supposed to do is hit the CD/AUX button on teh head unit right?
You may have to touch one of the buttons on the ipod and try it again. Make sure the ipod is powered up when you try to access it.
It was mentioned that 01(I think) and newer cars had the changer cable installed regardless of whether they had the changer or not. I couldn't tell you for sure.
I took my console and radio surround off when I changed my shifter. It wasn't too bad. Here is a link to a page that shows how to pull that stuff out.
I did the same thing...changed cables to try to see which sounded better (both the same) and how that variable volume worked. I remember it not working when I changed the cables. I think you have to try various combinations....iPod on, iPod off, radio-head on, radio-head off, and plug/unplug with each variation. Once it's recognized, no worries. It keeps on working even if the iPOD is disconnected, or the radio head is off, etc. 'course, kinda messes with the idea of easily switching between cables, but once you get the right conditions down, it's easy. ALSO....MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR DIP SWITCHES SWITCHED CORRECTLY.

I did try different variations of attaching and starting each component. I plugged it in with the Ipod off, then on, then actually playing. Disconnected all of it, disconnected the battery, reconnected all of it and the battery. Still no worky. I'll try some other combinations tomorrow I guess. I did double-check my dip switches and they were OK. 3 and 8 were on and the rest were off.
As far as switching cables, I decided to mount the interface on the outer side on the pass side of the tunnel. There is an A/C inlet duct that runs down that side and the carpet is not right up against the tunnel at that point. I then taped both cables together and ran them from the interface to the console. I think I can simply pull down the carpet from under the console, switch the plug and place the carpet back up. It isn't ideal, and as of right now useless, but best I could come up with short of cutting interior trim.

When you hit CD/AUX on the radio-head, does it cycle through, first, the CD setting for the head unit, and then the "ghost" CD that is connected to the back of the head unit? Mine was from the cable in the trunk, so it may be different...but are you seeing a "1 1" on the head unit readout, and not just a "1" ?

If the connector is the same, I would think it should but am not positive. I'll be at a club get together tomorrow. If anyone there has an iphone, I'll try it and post up the results.

Very cool. I'm sure there is a few of us keeping an eye on this thread wondering the same thing. Thanks!

And, of course, the version using the mini-plug that goes into the earphone jack on the device also works with PDAs, other MP3 players, and the iPhone. My Blackberry Curve2 with a 4 gig mini-disk works as well.
yes it works with the iphone, just each time you hook it up a display shows on the phone saying this accesory is not made to work with the iphone, would you like to go into airplane mode. I just simply hit no.
Works great!!
I hooked my isimple to the back of my radio. I did have a cable in the trunk but it must have gotten wet at some point, because it was corroded. My ipod will charge but the radio is not playing the ipod . When I hit the aux button the cd light will blink, several seconds later I get an error message. It is set at #3, any ideas?
Go to post 45 and 46. It is what I used to do it. Worked great. Just a little tip...remember to plug back in the cig lighter thingy! Otherwise its gotta all come back out! Hence my cell phone charger is not in my car right now. DOAH.

I just realized this weekend, while listening to the Stone's new Shine A Light CD, that Keith Richards' guitar wailings are coming out of my left speaker. Having seen the movie, I thought he was always on the right. So I compared my MP3 hookup to the actual CD in the car, and sure enough, the channels are flipped. There's no alternate way to hook this up (cable from the rear "CD" cable going into the AUX2CAR or IPOD2CAR box, then to the miniplug), so I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue with R/L channel flipping? Could a dip switch change fix it?

That's a weird one. I am out of town on business now but should be home Wednesday evening. I'll check it out and post up the results unless someone else chimes in.

Agreed. Weird. I just called Peripheral and they have no idea why that would be, or how to fix it. I'm going to use my home stereo with my MP3 player and see if it's the car hookup or the MP3....maybe it got reversed with the CD Ripper program I used. I've never noticed this before and I've had the hookup in the car for about a year already.

I don't think it's so weird. It would be easy for them to mix up the two channels and not even notice. Especially if the problem was in the cable, making it limited to only some GM vehicles. Easy to miss.
I have no idea if my setup has the channels reversed, and really, I don't care. Ignorance is bliss.
I recently installed the IPOD2Car in my 2002 Z06 - and I am very happy connected to my 80GIG Ipod . No interference and outstanding "CD" quality sound thru my stock stereo unit.
I have my music organized by Albums- the only issue I sem to experience is when using the stereo head unit to forward to the next song - it sometime goes to say song 6 or 7 and then stops. I resolve by using the fwd button on the Ipod itself.
I am sure it's probably the way my music is organized - Any ideas?

I think that's just a quirk in the system. I've had similar experiences sometimes.
