Nah, it's 55 amp power inverter that allows me to run my sound system without draining the battery or running the car....esentially turning the entire car into a boom box.

For anyone who knows who I am....I'm notorious for doing some in depth video tutorials on Corvette C5 mods. I constructed a video with the permission of "TheRadioFlyer" on how to perform this modification. It will include every detail on how to solder the insides from start to finish. I've performed this mod on all 4 of my tail lights with 0 error and 100% freaking awesome results.

You can purchase the tail lights from
http://fiperformance.com/specials.htm

You can purchase the 4x 5pack resistors from
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062320

With out further hesitation here is the Corvette C5 LED Tail Lights Halo Mod Video Tutorial also located in my signature.

More details on what this diode is and where it would go, please. I've read this whole thread and the halo ring not lighting during the daytime is the only thing that has held me back from performing this mod.

I love the look when the lights are on, but I think it would really bother me to only have the centers light with signals and braking during the day, which is when I do most of my driving. The ragged edges of the interior LED's would look too "unfinished" without the halos for my tastes. Perhaps I could change my mind about that if I could see DAYTIME pics of the brakes applied with the lights OFF. But otherwise, I'm very interested in the "diode addition" to the mod. Thanks!

The diode would go between the halo ring power wire (white) and the center section power wire (either red or yellow) You'll need a voltmeter to determine which of the wires is positive and which is ground.

face the diode so the current can flow to the halo ring positive, but NOT away from it.

Thanks George. Now all I need to figure out is what kind of diode and how to tell if I've got it pointed in the right direction!! BTW, do you or can you include this mod in your services? I would definitely want the halo ring to light with the rest of the LED's during daytime braking and signaling. Many thanks!

I have nto had any request for this, but i will certainly take it into consideration. The installation wouldn't be difficult at all since i already have them apart.

I'm actually shocked that no one has requested this. I can't believe that others wouldn't want the best of both worlds here, if it is available. The halo ring "finishes" the look of the lights. During the daytime, you not must only have a funky look, but you're losing what? 1/3 visibility of your brake lights in the process? If I go this route, I gotta have the diode. Otherwise, it's a deal breaker for me.

Brian, are you doing a group purchase again or do you have one going on right now?

Do you allow in on the GP if I want them shipped directly to me so I can attempt the modification myself?

If anyone has added the diode to allow the halos to light up with the brake lights during the day (no parking lights on). I would love to have more info, a picture or diagram would be great, I plan on modifying mine this weekend and am fine with the regular modifying process but am having a little bit of a hard time wrapping my head around placement and orientation of the diode. I don't have my tail lights in front of me but it appears from the video that there are the 2 other wires inside that feed brake/turn signals lights they look to be soldered just to the left of the two white wires, once I identify which one is positive I would just need to splice off that wire with the diode allowing current flow to the halo ring and that should stop it from backfeeding to the center section when just the parking/headlamps are on. Do I have that straight?

Thanks in advance

You'll need a voltmeter/multi meter to identify 12v(+) wire and ground. The 3157 socket can be installed 2 directions. in the stock form, the Halos will work either way. Once you do the Halo mod, the Halo circuit becme polarized and will only light up when the 3157 plug is installed in one specific direction (if it doesn't light up, simply remove the plug and turn it around)

Once you do the halo mod, you'll need to identify which of the two Stop/Turn wires are the 12v(+) lead. Tap your diode between this wire and your Halo ring 12v lead and you're good to go.

It all makes sense to me now, any particular specs for the diode I should know about? RadioFlyer you are the man.

thanks.
Any diode with a rating above 12v should work. Radioshack has a bunch to choose from. The only catch is that diodes with thick leads don't like beign soldered. You may need a butane torch to get the solder to stick.
