I have done thousands of F.M.E.A 's in my automotive Career ( Failure modes effect analysis ) also the difference between ABS and Polycarbonate is extreme... Concerns for UV stable materials are very important to an external automotive application.
In the design stages, i specifically requested the PETG lens material selected for the main lens to be UV treated. I was originally going to go with polycarb, but BOTH of the plastics companies i'm working with think PETG would be the better choice. So far, the lens has presented zero problems.....which makes me go like this:
Good news: I got in the mounting hardware for the first kits today. All stainless
Bad news: My transmission on my car broke so mounted pics won't be available until wednesday.
In the meantime I will be trimming the new shrouds and lenses for the first 4 lucky customers. I won't be able to get the frames drilled until i get the originals back from my car (i wrote the measurements on them....

Go to where you car is tomorrow and get the measurements, maybe?

Lol, I cant wait for these to get shipped, I'll have some time here this month to pretty much install these as soon as I get them, so now im getting anxious

Bummer about the tranny. No rush. At least you wrote the measurements down where they wouldnt get lost!
I too am excited about getting my set. I am torn between getting the shrouds hydracarbon'd or painting the shrouds EB to match the car.

I think hydracarbon would look more aggressive. I"m not sure how well it would adhere to the ABS surface, but then again that's not my specailty. I would ask your graphics guy what he thinks.
I'm glad you're going this. This will be almost certainly be my first pure nonperformance mod when I get back into modding. I love that these lights are nearly perfectly near flush, weigh less, love that you're using 50W HID's, and I hope that you succeed in finding a solution for HID's in the high beams too.
Production Note: whilee the stainless steel projector shrouds do their job in blocking incoming sunlight, they are not suitable for painting and their finish is hardly what i would call presentable. As a result, I will be ordering a batch of the same size pipe but in aluminum that is lighter weight, easier to work with and has a presentable finish should one decide not to paint them. These lights will be perfect for production, no corners cut!

Sounds good. I think this a good move. Allows the end user multiple finish options - powder coating, painting, polishing, or even satin brushed finish. I likey!!!
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, however I have installed or worked just about every lighting option there is for the C5 corvette (excluding the type 66 POS) One might look at a brand new corvette and ask is it really worth ~$40K. Honestly I don't think it is, but you must also consider the amount of research and development put into the production of such a product. These lights are the result of nearly 3 months of careful planning, countless hours of test fitting, designing and fabricating parts that do not exist. I believe the asking price is quite reasonable compensation for the investment i have made.

Dont even stress it, people are always going to complain about prices no matter what.
When do you think these will actually be done and ready to ship? Im hoping before the end of this month, I have lot's of time right now for the install but come Jan, not so much

This **IS** a performance mod. Anyone who drag races at night knows that having pop-up lights turned on will cost you nearly 1/10 second in the quarter mile.

My friends didn't believe me until they tried it. At nearly 4k feet above sea level, on my track a Firebird putting it's lights down dropped nearly 3 tenths of a second. And of course any time you can shed a few pounds from the vehicle, that's a performance mod. Now if I could turn the lights off on my Canadian spec Z, I could get rid of that load on the alternator.

considered the "big 3" to ease the electrical load?
George, I know that everyone is always looking for the best price. It's a shame when a person tries to justify a lower price by comments that aren't based on fact so he finds it necessary to use snide unnecessary comments.
You are entitled to a fair profit - It is up to each individual to decide if the price charged is fair. If they feel it is and can afford to purchase then they should. If not do nothing or go to a system that cost less.
While the Time and Material put into the project may not fully justify the price. I am paying for what I consider to be a quality product and as important for your knowledge and talent which is resulting in a product that all agree was needed. Looks and Safety
One consideration might be to offer a complete light package to include head, tail and side lights. Special price with fair profit included. Just a thought.
Keep up the great work!

I'd love to do that, unfortionatly I can't get any better prices on the tail and corner lights than you guys can (I'm not a wholesaler) I would consider offering a "modification package" though.
