Also forgot to ask, is there an "in between" bulb that could be used for the highs? Something more powerfull than stock, but less than the 100 watt exploders?

Was a hooded bezel on each light or "Frenched headlight" (old school term) ever a consideration in eliminating the sun refraction issue? Maybe it's buried somewhere in this thread and I just haven't seen it.

The HIR bulb is the closest to that. if you can find an angled-base 9005 HID bulb that would work as well. I know they exist, i just can't find any.

Lens clearance issue there.... The flush lens is a double edged sword....whilee it's what makes this kit unique and desireable , it's also what makes it a HUGE challange to get everything to fit.

so far, i think they'll fit without much fuss. But i have about 2mm i can sand down if they do cause a probleem.

Did the eyebrow you made affect the light output at all?

Nope. i was afraid the high beam might be affected, but as long as the projector lens has a clear line of sight directly foward, there's no affect on the beam pattern.

Hmm, ok. Yeah I haven't decided if I will paint an eyebrow or not but I may throw some high gloss yellow vinyl over it to make an eybrow that way it's reversible if I dont like it.

You are a testing FOOL!!

I appreciate your tenacity and a I commend your dedication to providing the best possible product. Attempting to put something like this togehter in a semi part time basis is quite remarkable. I applaud your efforts!

Cant wait to get my set and my RF modded halo tail lights to round out my lighting "mods"!!

I know you werent happy with my last idea that you had already covered but Honestly 30 pages is more than I have time to sit and read. I am really impressed with the way the lights mount on the Black C5 on page 29. Incredible.. Keep up the good work. I see you will have a ton of buyers and a back order from hell LOL... Are you planning on making these in the 8000k HID range? That would really set a black vette off..

Sorry Man, that was me that replied to your last post, I didn't mean to sound snippy. I've just been following this for a while, and have at one time or another read every post. Don't take it out on Radio Flyer.

8000K will be an option. For appearance it will be nice but for function it's going to be the least effective of all color options...(unles your eyes are VERY attuned to blue)

The 55w kits colors differ slightly from the 35w kits. Reason being is that thee 55w bulbs are driveen hotter than the 35w and the brighter color simulates that of a slightly lower temeprature. Color options will be as follows:

4300K - Halogen yellow
5000K - Pure white (most color output at 55w)
6000K - Sky blue (my personal choice)
8000K - Iceburg blue (mostly for show, but still functional as headlights)

Update: i was able to test the frosted lens concept in direct sunlight....at least until the rains hit It works as planned. While I could individually sand each lens by hand, it would be a much faster, accurate and even option to have the lenses media blasted. Unfortionatly my source for media blasting will not be available until after Jan 1. Until that time, I will sand 1 set of lenses to use in the official photoshoot.

While i'm waiting, I will make sure all the shrouds, lenses and frames are cut, drilled and fitted so when the projectors are blasted the first orders can get out ASAP. In addition, I will also be building my personal kit using the E55s from my previous headlights.

Awesome! I was secretly hoping that you would have the "production" units blasted in lieu of hand sanding for exactly the reason you stated...uniformity. Very happy to hear that you made this decision!

I didn't really make that decision, my arm said if i decided to sand them myself, it would quit and fall off.

Random note: this thread is now in the top 10 most viewed threads of all time in the C5 general section.

I know your trying hard to get them done asap and I know there were unexpected delays, but waiting till Jan is a bummer (speaking for myself)

I know what you mean. in hindsight, i could have just ditched the metal shroud idea in favor of 1/2 frosting the lenses....but like I stated earlier, that was a last resort thing....and unfortionatly the last resort takes the most time to get to.

Knowing what I knew now, I could have cut R&D time down to less than a month, but that's using lessons learned from 3 months of development.

Default Patience

If you pushed out a version at an earlier date and continued to improve on the design, many would have been disappointed.

I'm impressed at the level of perfection you are attempting to reach. Makes me much more comfortable and am willing to wait until the mod reaches your level of comfort.

Jumping on the band wagon early normally puts you in a position - IF ONLY I WAITED - keep testing and improving George.
