I really like the way this is going. I may have to start giving blood to save the money for them, but hey, I can make more.

For the record, I don't mind a bit of bulge at all. I think it looks purposefully mechanical. I think the halo's would be a phenominal option if it's possible. I'd also like the option of being able to get into the housing easily for cleaning, painting, whatever. My Depos have gotten foggy inside, and they look to be a pain to separate to get in there.

Looks good so far my man. Keep up the good work, and I'll hit the blood clinic next week....

Please make the Halos strictly an option if you do them. I don't want Halos... Last thing I want is my car looking ANYTHING like a BMW.

they will definatly be an option. One of the joys of being a hands-on designer/builder is that I can do just about any combination of options.

.....i was thinkinking of calling them "whata-cannons"

Hey George, what are you thinking about for the shrouds? Will they be similar to the C6's?

Similar yes, but without the "ribs" in the front. It's should be easy to create a mold for that.

I didn't see it specifically mentioned in your original post but im assuming these are HID's?
And what are Halo's? sorry
I currently have ACA HID's and love them but would without hesitation move to a non popup setup.
thank you for working on this

The low beams will be HID and i'll have an option for the highs to be HID as well. (people who live in rural areas will benifit from being able to melt distant asphalt)

My Halos are Rings of Cathode tubes (eessentially modernized cold-burning neon) that surround the projectors lens. This is what they look lke on the original light cannons:

I'm also toying with the idea of an "evil" halo like on my car:

In an "evil" halo or "demon eyes" I blackout 25-35% of the halo ring to make it look angry.

Today's work in the shop revealed the BPP lens does have a slight bulge to it, but this is essential to fitting ANY kind of projector in such a confined space.

I also went through 4 mock-up frame designs. The total design calls for the frame to support the lights mounted to both the front of the fender AND the frame rail for highly rigid construction. This will significantly minimize bounce on all but the roughest terrain (you off roading crazy people.....lol)

Here are some test shots with the HIDs on using one of the early mock ups:

One of the great things about the C5's is that (other than the battery compartment) you can wash everything under the hood down with a garden hose. Will these be ok to get the part under the hood wet?

Yes. The projectors themselves are sealed and the electrical connectors are weathersealed. The Main lens will be weather sealed along the back side....but you stillmight still get some water in the headlight area. If water gets in, it will eventually dry off.

So to answer your question in short, yet is safe to wash under the hood....however i'd reccomend a non-waterhose approach. (spray cleaners etc.

This looks to be the most promising headlight on the market.

You should consider putting a single 1/8" hole in each of the headlight buckets for drainging water and letting air in.

Keep up the good work.
