Some teaser shots for those of you intersted in the Halos. They were so bright i had to turn the exposure down to -2 to get the "ring" in the picture.

They also have a nifty effect i call the "double ring" that is the reflection of the halo off the projector lens surface.

Can you expain how the halos are turned on without the rest of the light? Or are they always on? If you have halos are they on both lights? Or just the lows?

The halos are CCFL (cathode) tubes that work similar to neons but cooler and brighter. They aree powered by small dual-output transformer that runs on a basic 12v positive circuit. They can be wired to come on with the parking lights or headlights. They will be on both high and low beams.

Pardon my ignorance, but do the cathodes only come in white or could they be in other colors? Yellow / amber for example.

The ccfl are curreently available in white only, however I could build an LED strip style halo that could come in amber for use as DRLs/Turn signals.

I am assuming that the LED strip style would have a dot-dot-dot look rather than the smooth look of the cathode?

The first 5 sets for those in the GP spot saver are being produced. I expect the lenses, shrouds and frames will be complete in about 2-3 weeks. I will request payment on monday. (some options wil be available by then)

The lens material was going to be UV treated polycarb, however on advice from multiple plastics experts, I will be using UV-filtering PETG for the first 5 sets. The big advantage with PETG is it's ability to bee easily formed without optical distortions. PETG is what is generally used in OEM headlights.

If there are any unforseen problems presented by the PETG material, i will go back to the original planned polycarbonate and replace the PETG lenses at my cost.

I'm Really interested in what the finished product here looks like. I'm deffinately looking to replace the crummy headlights my Z06 came with. I'm most interested in a Factory Quallity HID system. If that means D2S then so be it. Would this fixation be compatible with those capsules?
