I weighed my A4s with double locking sliders, mounted on the C5 Corbeau rails, with the seat belt latch at 42 lbs. each.

They replaced C6 Z06 seats mounted on C5 rails. The drivers seat was power and weighed 47 lbs. The passengers manual seat weighed 36 lbs.

I think that the heavy part is the Corbeau iron seat rails. It would be nice if they would make an aluminum version or at least use some light weight steel.

If anyone ever needs to mount a fire extinguisher the BK fire extinguisher mount will work with the A4s.

Well I finally got around to installing mine! I have torch red interior and the leather does not come in red , so I had to get cloth. Does not look bad at all IMO! I know I'll probably like it even better come summer time!

Since this had become the default A4 impressions thread I'll add my .02.

This past weekend was the first time that I have had the car out since installing the A4s. They replaced the 06 C6 Z06 seats that I had installed in my C5 a while back.

This past weekend I attended an autoX training/practice day on Saturday and ran 2 autoX races on Sunday. There is no comparison between a stock C5/C6 seat and the A4s when it comes to holding you in place under high cornering forces. For the first time ever when running autoX I did not have to brace myself between the console and the door panel.

The seats were also very comfortable on the 40 minute drive to and from the track.

those who have installed A4's: how toght is the fit where the factory lower seat belt retractor is? I've got B-K harness brackets in mine and it spreads the panel just a bit -- wondering if the A4's will still clear (the factory seat on the pass. side is REAL tight). Anybody have the slot for a sub belt?

I need a little help with my seating in my C5. Lack of better words, "I hate 'em". I have had experiences with several aftermarket off road suspension seats in several rock crawlers, and agree that there is nothing better than the right seat for the vehicle that fits the driver. I have no experience with go fast race seats. I am a big guy, 6'4" and 250lbs. I need a set of seats that will give me great lateral support (built for a big guy), and would love to be able to retain the easy entry feature of the current sliders. I am an automotive engineer and work in the auto seating industry, so adapting the sliders may be a task, but I feel that I may be able to pull it off. Does anyone make what I'm looking for? Thanks in advance guys.

BTW- Great forum! I've been just laying in the weeds the last couple of months soaking up the know how!

I just installed the A4s. So here is my experience and impression. I have the BK extinguisher bracket, BK Bar and harness brackets and Crow harness. I decided not to buy the sub belt hole because I have the BK setup and I think resale may be easier without this feature. Although I did consider the lumbar support, but decided no, since I drive very little miles and it may not be any help for track/AX.

Be very very careful when moving seats in/out of car... there are sharp edges everywhere and I did have some scratches... no big deal for me... but for some of you, it may be a big deal. You must install it with the recliner lever towards the center of the car, otherwise, with their bracket offset design, it won't fit with the lever on the outboard location. I needed to modify the bracket to allow the seat to move forward more. I am 5-8, and have 30" inseam... just couldn't get close enough. Contacted Corbeau and their solution was an adapter bracket, which raises the seat 1-1.5" (no thanks!) or weld couple more cross bars to relocate the seat fwd. I went to lowes to get some steel, drilled some holes and bolted the mod. Now my short legs are happy. And I agree, their brackets are "cheaply" made and heavy. The slider is heavy too. They could spend some R&D money there, but then it will cost more. Back to the install, I put couple of washers in the front to raise the seat angle up a bit... it makes the rake better for me. For my extinguisher, the BK brackets still fits, but it limits the fwd seat travel (like before) and now the end of the fire bottle touches the front of the bracket. So I decided to install a "z" shaped bracket, which allow me to install the BK bracket fwd about 1.5". Now, I am happy. One thing though, check the bolt that holds the seat back to the seat bottom. It is covered with a cheap plastic cover. On one of my seat, the bolt was not tightened all the way, and that little bit of protrusion, prevented my seat from dropping in... It is that tight in the C5 cockpit. I bought the black suede and with double lock on the driver side and single lock on the pass side (because of the BK extinguisher bracket). I am fairly happy with this mod. The all black looks nice and my wife thinks there is more room behind the seat... not that it matters... I don't store anything there. The biggest thing is now I have something to hold my shoulders in place and a proper hole for my shoulder harness to fit thru. If I didn't care about looks... I would have left the OEM pass seat in place... BTW, I do not have the BK harness bracket on the pass side... My passengers can use the OEM belts and be flung around ( I usually do not have passengers...they weigh too much LOL)

You can now barely see where the factory carpet ends and this carpet starts.

So I just replaced my seats today with some A4s. As I didn't want to lose my power telescope feature and the memory for the wheel and the mirrors I knew that I needed to move the driver seat control module over. What I didn't expect was that I would also have to move the entire wire harness from the drivers seat to the new seat. I thought the blue plug would be independent and I could just move it and the control module... nope. Anyway I removed the entire wire harness and neatly installed the control module and the harness under the new seat. By doing this I was also able to retain the seatbelt connector (no seatbelt light while using the seatbelt). I plugged in the blue and black connectors into the leads from the car and all was well. My car retains the memory for the wheel telescope feature and the mirrors, and obviously I can still adjust the telescope wheel with the adjustment switch. Oh, and I get no errors or warnings of any kind - at least none that I've noticed yet.

It took me 5 hours to do a nice neat factory look job, including installing the control module and wire harness to the new seat, adding the "black Walmart carpet" (perfect match!) to cover the space under the seat mounts, adding washers between the front seat tracks and the seat and also under the front seat mounts (lifted the front of the driver's seat as much as I could). The install was easy overall.

Likes:
- The seats look awesome.
- The leather is much better looking than the factory sport seats and the A4s are also ALL leather - unlike the factory seats.
- While tight (I'm 6' and 215lbs) the seats are comfortable
- No more seat rocking!!! ...even though I thought I had fixed that damn problem last year
- Cornering is now a new kind of fun. I can't wait to hit my first on/off ramp!

Dislikes:
- The seat tracks on both seats are VERY stiff - It's difficult to move the seats back and fourth (unexpected - WTF). It can't be the washers I installed because I only added those to the driver's seat.
- Seat back adjustment access sucks! I should have installed Toque's key chain trick.
- I got the lumbar adjustment and I'm not sure it's holding air - it's like it has a slow leak. I'll need to keep an eye on this as I'm just not totally sure if it's really leaking air.
- Obviously the loss of seat memory and the exit feature, though I knew this going in.

I want to thank Toque as it was this thread and all it's great information that sold me on replacing my seats with the A4s.

After some "seat time" I'll post another update.
