I'm confused. Is this going to be a cover over the OEM dash? If so- I get it. Or is this going to replace the OEM dash? If that's the case I don't think it will fit by using the dash as a mold. It will be too big. What am I missing?

Sorry to the original poster but this is not trying to be discouraging but I'm not seeing a good ending here. Though I hope I can say I'm wrong when you're done
Get a good respirator your lungs will thank you.

Reason: PS
Oh my gosh hahah I am Making a fiberglass cover to go over my dash then wrapping or having it painted in Carbon Fiber. At the same time I will disable and remove the pass. airbag.
Im sorry guys, Im not the fastest at this
He is making a "COVER" for the dash and he is going to do it in CF and gloss it too, perhaps!!!
Many forum members buy the "CHEESY" Carbon Fiber Stick on stuff for around the radio and dash, so why is it so hard to understand that he is making a excellent piece that is going to be a full and real Carbon Fiber cover for the whole dash?
It's not to hard, if you don't like what he is doing, to "UN-SUBSCRIBE" to the post, it is quite easy to do
Other than that wait to see the final result! I have made many things for myself and fabricated quite a few things too for my Vette in order to save money and time. And many on the forum here can attest to the things I have made. Why pay a absorbant price for a piece a vendor would make when you can do it yourself and at times better!
If a vendor was making it would that be better? Maybe a vendor will pick up this idea and buy it from himand we all will be paying alot of money to have the same thing
Sorry for the rant but DUDE give the guy a chance!

Well said Matt! If your going to provide any additional comments (bad/good) at least read all the threads in a post before doing so.
I think you're doing an excellent job. Not only showing us your progress, but also your mistakes and how you're correcting them. I can't wait to see the final product!
Thanks Matt and Gr8Wht , Im actually debating on doing the top layer in CF, BUT in my experiece with CF hoods,if you get a hood and has cracks in it you basically kiss fixing it goodbye So Ive been thinking I either "try" to wrap this thing myself with the CF Vinyl, then clear it, OR see what American Hydrocarbon can do(except for the risk of shipping and the price to do it )

With you on what it will do if any weak points and a crack comes up. Really hope it does work out and can see how hard it is to do a job like this. Good luck glad to see you posting the work up like was said above from the other 2 guys... Robert
Ok, LaurelBoy I got your pics or the car without the dash
and the soon to be ripped out ...
I cant even drive it right now (stupid slave)
This is where I used Jelly-resin to fix some spots
The "fixing" process of deleting the "handle"
Now after I sanded all that, I decided it would be best to layer the entire dash AGAIN with resin, to fill all dips, and regain the lines I want. This I will block sand for a nice flat surface, then add another layer of fiberglass but this time Ill use fiberglass cloth
I used that resin gel with chopped fibers to filled the rear side lights in my L5 fenders. That's some hard stuff but should match the rest of the glass work well.
Thanks for the pics Powerjunky. Man that looks so wild to me since I have fears just changing a light bulb. Looks like the project is coming along real good. The airbag might have some sale value. Are you still going to change the steering wheel?

Yea I tried mixing some of the powder from sanding and made the polyester really thick, worked out nice
I never realized you deleted your rear markers, nice!

Idk if Ill sell the pass airbag, it may come in handy in the future. And yes I have this wheel to still put in
I have a cool mod for this wheel too

I was like hey that would be nice but then saw your located in CA hahaha
Block sanding was a joke. It kept getting gummed up s I switched to my dads palm sander:yesod: then we were in business. It took me only 1.5 hours to complete! Here's some shots of the smoothness haha...
Remember that harsh corner I kept having trouble with an I needed to fix it....
Its upside down, backwards, inside-out! I really dont get what you are doing. I'm confused!!!! & i own a fiberglass fab & repair shop! Whats wrong with the oem dash?
