Its upside down, backwards, inside-out! I really dont get what you are doing. I'm confused!!!! & i own a fiberglass fab & repair shop! Whats wrong with the oem dash?
He's trying to make a carbon fiber overlay for his dash. Not replace it. place one on top of it.
I have been following along with this thread since it started. I clearly see what he is doing. From the first post he has told us what he is trying to do.
If he actually does it or not remains to be seen but To me it looks like a young guy who likes his Vette a lot and enjoy messing around with it. Even if it turns into one big pile of dung it's a fun read. I wish I had the time to do something like that with my Vette. Actually I dont think I would have the ***** to do something like that with my Vette.
ok!! I get it now, a 50lb. 1" thick overlay. & all this time I thought cf was light-wieght?
heheheh
Well Powerjunky may be winging it and the chances of it working out to a level I would consider putting in my vette may be slim but it's still a fun read. I have my fingers crossed. =)

I agree on the fun read, and give Powerjunky credit for his spirit and risk taking abilities.
But at this point in the mod I'll counsel to save the passenger airbag (and everything else that came loose) to use in the new-used dash that will be bought off the parts for sale as someone is parting out a vette.
That said, I'll continue to watch and wish well...
I will admit that this may be a tough battle to finish. Trust me I keep thinking in the back of my mind...how will fitment be IN the car. Either way guys, I will not stop until it makes it in the car, even if its going to be a lot of work...Its all a learning experience

well its smoothed out, but I figured I better finish the edges before I lay down the next layer. So tomorrow I plan on doing the edges and lower glovebox area, then getting the next layer applied
