It is things like this that make you really appreciate the "natural" beauty of an un-modded C5. About 90% of the mods I see done to Corvettes should be outlawed, but on the other hand they make the good ones really stand out.

"Cheap" doo-dads and mods seem to be really widespread in the Corvette culture. You rarely see that in other cars in their original price range and above.

Most cheap (and some expensive) mods on a Corvette enhance it about as much as slapping a tattoo on a pretty woman - no good looking woman has ever been "enhanced" by adding a tattoo and once that is done you barely notice the woman anymore as you eye is constantly drawn to the logo she has decided to promote for the rest of her life!

I think I have the answer, Ever since man crawled out of the ocean, and said "What if?"..... and the rest is history.....

I think it's great that some think out of the boxs, and has the guts to share it on forums like this so all can share the vision. Now not all visions are cool or acceptable, but keeping an open mind, I still love to see and hear them being done. I for one wouldn't do a DIP with the exception of the rear lower panel (My Vette is Black, so you couldn't tell anyway), but it is nice to see the wheels in someones head is still turning.. but that's just my .02 cent..

Man - some of you folks are a bunch of whiners.

These cars are made for driving, racing and having fun.

My car is now on it's 3rd major "version" of mods since 2002, overall chassis is 92,000 miles old - it was a daily driver for almost 70,000 miles, a weekend warrior for 15,000 and an mostly flat bedded for the last 5,000 as we worked through various drive train glitches.

It has ALL the major points of complaints the rivet counters and polishers complain about, "primered' body panel, big wing, non-sponsored sponsor decals, "rice" interior and tacky fender flares.

On the upside it has 427ci of N/A power, stops and turns like a go-kart, can lap the local road courses at gut-busting speeds and most importantly - is exactly the car I want it to be - until I change it up again.

So the news that I am about to attack it with a couple cans of PlastiDip will probably send some folks to the ER.

I took a rattle can to my car, but its permanent sanded down the lower rear fascia and everything. I used satin black Krylon Fusion and it came out nice, even and clean, plus I can say I did it myself

Hey, it's their car. They can do what they want to it. I think the painted lower fascias look fantastic in PD. I might even use it on the faded area where the wipers are at. As others have stated, it is easily removed.

This is why people prefer plastidip. Most would fear spraying the car because it is permanent, as well as the chance of fugging up their paint job. PD allows you to attempt what otherwise you'd never do.

You could dip your whole car before robbing a bank then driving around the block and pulling off the dip to fool the cops then making a clean getaway

I think you need to edit your statement. It's offensive to any ethnic background.

Don't get me wrong, I know that the Corvette is a great car and will hold its own with the toe European exotics, but high end, I think not.

Have you seen some of the cars here on the forum? I would say most of them are pretty high end. Corvette is Chevrolet's high end car, and has been since '53.

I bought some fiberglass reservoir covers used that were painted Grey. So instead of spending $150-200 to have them painted, I spent $6 on PD and they turned out awesome. They blend in with the factory flat black plastic parts.

i mean really? smh...

i like what someone else said about if they never told anyone it was PD, they wouldn't know...that's what it all comes back to...if someone is closed minded to using PD, or just doesn't like the rattle can spray, DON'T TELL THEM...let them drool all over your car, make several comments about how much it looks , then on like the third page, post a video of you when you were applying the PD...

i also like the AWESOME looking examples on this thread...y'all have done some nice things to ur Vettes...my body shop guy is all for it and he does HIGH END CARS all the time...i gotta get a picture of his Maserati with plasti-dip trim...

to each his own...but good discussion all the same...where's that beating a dead horse picture?

i will happily disown PD if any of you would like to make next months payment! add in a full tank of 93 octane and i will march in protest outside their company!

How good would PD be to cover the rockers? Mine are beat up from 14 years of use. Does the PD offer some protection?

it would provide the same protection as putting vinyl on them...kinda like folks who use it as a bra...some keep a can in their car for road trips...get there, peel it off and cruise around...ready to leave? spray again...dries quickly...drive home

and oh yeah, its not just on the corvette forum, or the IMPORT guys either...gosh stop saying "ricer" guys!...i know a few challenger owners, one who has a 492 limited, who have PD'd something...
