"When you are dead, you are dead for a long time". So make the most of the time that you have on this earth and don't worry about what others think and be happy every day. Don't sweat the small stuff.
Keep the car only if it makes you happy. I sold my 65 convert back in the early 70's when I got married and started having children. I have always known someday I would get another vette, I am 64 and a month ago bought a 99 convert.
When I am driving that car I am happy. You know what? I am even happy just seeing it sit in the garage.
I've been asked if the Vette is the result of a mid life crisis. I go with the flow and tell them the crisis started real early....age 16...and has no end in sight

Always wanted a Vette, now I have one. IDC what anyone thinks. Hell, mine even has the stock wagons and the Bose system. This way I can irritate those who don't have a Vette, and those who hate them stock. Best of both worlds.
Are there really vette owners out there who don't like stock vettes? Thinking about joining a club with 180 members, just curious. I can understand improving performance and some modes.
I've had a midlife crisis my hole life. I had a vette at age 18 and still have a vette at 58. And I've had several in between. I also still ride sport bikes and dirt bikes. The day I stop is the day I die.
I bought a c 5 today, I am 79 years young. Dec 2 I will 80
Happy early birthday Bill. I'm also a Sagitarius , birthday on the 14th. will be 65 but already saying 65 because it is so close . I like how you consider yourself 79 until your birthday, even this close. I look forward to my birthdays. They don't slow me down and they sure beat the alternative. Happy birthday and many more healthy ones.
Just got mine a couple of months ago, and I just turned 66 last week. Midlife crisis my
***. I wanted one all my life, so I put it on my bucket list, and now I'm driving it and loving every minute. Tell her to go get one.
For me "age is a state of mind". As long as I'm physically able to do things, I'll keep on going with whatever makes me happy.
As I go into my 68th year, I'm working on how to make my '87 handle better for autocross events and track days. And I'm figuring on doing at least 4 extra track days in 2014 assuming I can squeeze them in between all the autocross events that I chair.
And ski season is starting.....

There are every type of Corvette owners out there. Most of the 6 Corvettes that I have owned over the years have had some sort of mods but I also appreciate why others like stock Corvettes, I think it's great that people go the NCRS route and I have seen some excellent examples of both original and restored Corvettes. Same with old race Corvettes. It's all in what you like.

Seems to go both ways. Some hate them to be modded, some find stock too boring, and feel the car isn't "yours" until you change/modify it.
I have no preference (as to how they end up), but I was glad to find the one I ended up purchasing to be unmodified. I did add a HUD and an Ipod interface, so technically, not stock I suppose.
Here's a thought, just wait until you are younger to get the car! It would be awesome if you could own it at 20, but sometimes things don't work out that way.
........I have lifelong friends that have never owned a performance car of any kind. They never questioned why I had a big block 4 speed car when I was a teenager. They never questioned why I bought a new Trans Am when I was 22. I buy a Corvette when I'm in my 50s and I'm having a mid life crisis. Simple truth is I've always been a car person. It's something they just don't get....
A lot of people ask about a mid-life crisis, or a second childhood, etc. I think it is simply that I never got out of my first childhood.
When I was 15 I had a '65 Impala SS and a '64 GTO. I was working on them before I got my license at 16 so I would have something fun to drive. Since then I have had 60 or 70 cars and most of them have been performance cars.
I have always enjoyed working on and driving fun cars and there is no reason to change now.
