First I love all Vettes and general old school looking muscle cars.
That being said, I would rank them this way:
1. C7 : Absolutely best looking Vette. Definitely a home run!
2. C3 : Love the lines, hate the power after late 60s, Not the best handling either.
3. C5 : Classic lines. Still best bang for the buck! Handles well and good power.
4. C1 : Love the early sixty models. They are just BAD!
5. C2: Not as refined, but classic.
6. C4: Kind of a door stop Corvette.
Riiiiiight I like the C6, but you'd have to be extremely ignorant to claim the C6 is a better engineered car than the C7. Every Vette generation has been an engineering improvement over the previous generation, and the C7 is certainly no exception.

POLL: What’s the Best-Looking Corvette Generation?
Now, I know a lot of this is going to boil down to a matter of eye and beholder, but among the seven generations there has to be one or two that even die-hard Corvette enthusiasts didn't particularly like.
The more I see the C7Z, the more I love it. While I do love a lot of things about the C5, I love my brothers C6, I loved my C4, and I still wish to build a chrome bumper C3. But as far as most beautiful, there is none more than a '63 split.
This is awesome.

I think its hard to beat the timeless lines of the C1 / C2 , and even the C3.
I would take either one of these 10 to 1 over anything else.
The only corvette I ever regret selling. I've been looking for another one since. This car was almost perfect. I'm on my fourth c5, so I kinda' like them too.
The C7 is cool but it looks like a Batmobile. Lines are very sharp, and I'n not crazy about the rear end.
The C6 is OK but it looks to me like it was rear-ended compared to a C5.
The C4 looks dated. I hate the dash. Later models are passable aesthetically but I still would not buy one to own.
C1-C3? Each person has their opinions. C1-C3 are just too "old" for me. I do not like classic cars at all - just not my speed. Anything that screams "50's", "60's", or "70's" to me is just not my cup of tea.
C5 has always been my favorite. People told me to save my $$$ and get a newer one. I had to convince them that I was not "settling" on an older Vette. I simply liked the C5 the best. Sure...it would be nice to have all of the fancy interior technological appointments that the C7 has, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The C5 platform just doesn't look like a car that is over a decade old; it's not dated at all.
I agree, the C5 looks the best. It kooks wider and lower than all the newer stuff.
My last vette was a C5, don't care for the C7 at all. Mate was at work with his 1980 L82 (what C is that). He parked it next to my clown shoe for some pics. Now the L82 really is beautiful.
Maybe, maybe not...sounds like wishful thinking for some, since you are so worried. Viper production is always a mystery...remember no production in 2007, 2011, 2012. In the meantime, tunes are starting to emerge for the Gen 5, with initial gains of 50+hp on a tune alone. Bolt-ons are predicted to send the hp well north of 700, while remaining naturally aspirated.
Now if you parked a C7 there as well, no rear badges, which would you think is the L82's progeny??
