You should always be considerate of others.

My C5Z came with extremely loud Borla exhaust and I slightly cringe every time I pull it out of the garage, potentially disturbing my neighbors.

Luckily Marianist Catholic priests live across the street from me, so I won't be getting a middle finger from them anytime soon.

Snowflakes. Mistakenly think the constitution gives them the right to never be offended. The real world must be hell for the little pansies.

That was good advice. I always go under the speed limit in my neighborhood and turn the radio way down too. Even though I get home really late in the evening there's always the chance of hitting a dog or a deer.

My exhaust isn't that loud, at least to me, but my neighbors say they can tell when I'm going out because they can hear it in their house.

I leave my house at 4:30 in the morning for the gym. On the days I happen to drive the vette, I am very slow and considerate of my neighbors. Unlike the guy down the street with the Coyote 5.0 who leaves just before me winding out every gear. Sounds great, but that's a shitty thing to do.

A while back, we had a long discussion on another forum, about loud exhaust and why men feel it's important.
I think a nice low mellow sounding exhaust is fine, but it would appear some need that ear shattering , almost no muffler sound.

What the hell is that all about?
Perhaps a high testosterone level, or very little, take your choice.
Some just crave attention.
What ever the reason, it is absolutely ridiculous.

Bob.
Some of us LIKE our loud exhausts. It has nothing to do with making up for testosterone, or attention grabbing. It just feels right to turn the key and hear the rumble. I personally don't care what other people think, I'm building my car for ME and no one else (ok, maybe the wife a little, too )

That said, I'm aware that I have loud exhaust, and I drive accordingly. I don't rev it early in the morning or late at night, and when I'm in town I try to keep it down. And I'm ESPECIALLY aware that it makes me a target for cops, so I drive UNDER the speed limit most of the time. I also live in the country, which helps. Nearest neighbor is almost a half-mile away. I wasn't there for OP's incident, but would caution you to be considerate in neighborhoods.

Sorry for the rant, I just don't like people judging what others do with their cars, provided they aren't doing something particularly stupid.

In the early seventies I had both Thrush and Cherry Bomb mufflers and thought it was very cool. Now I am an adult and no longer need to "improve" (modify) my vehicles, especially my C5 which was designed to both perform well and be reliable. Drivers who like loud annoying exhaust noise should wear headphones and play cd's of drag racing.

In my hood I take it easy, mostly idle thru the hood. What pizzed me off is the women in the hood who blow down the road like they are on a race track. When I am out walking I give them the slow down signal. Of course being on your phone who would see me?

A few weeks back guy down the street was washing his Harley. Took it out for a little jaunt, to blow off the water, nothing fast but it is loud.

One of the hot rod ladies hollers slowdown as he goes by which he never heard. I looked across at her and said you are kidding right? He's loud not speeding.

Loud exhaust gives the perception of speed.

No, there is no strange correlation between being an adult and not modding/playing with cars. It's all in your head. You just simply decided it wasn't for you any more.

Opinions are like ********, everyone has one lol just do you. If he confronts you then be nice and don't let him get to you. If you like loud keep it loud. You could also just putput when around his house lol My city is full of loud cars, dragsters, ratrods, you name it. We even have "The Drag" were we all gather on the main street and have a cruise. The whole town comes.

Make it louder screw all the grumpy people that think everyone should drive a boring slow sedan that makes no noise. If someone whipped me the bird for going 35 mph I would do a burnout in front of his hoist just to prove a point. This is America we live in the greatest country in the world because of our freedom so don't try to stop me from living as a free man.

Yes I know the burnout is not the right thing to do but I love pissing off libtards more than I like to be proper.

It took a very long time for someone to actually respond to that haha.

I'm always as quiet as possible in my car when leaving, but I also live in a condo not a house. Zero complaints in 2 and a half years, and a ton of compliments from neighbors, so I'm not too worried about it. I'm sure my car is substantially louder than yours too.

This is an old story but back in my exuberant youth I owned a red C4 and was renting a basement apartment from the owner of the house. He was a pretty cool guy and liked hot rods and even gave me a spot in the garage for my Vette. Of course I had to have a pretty obnoxious exhaust, no cats and some throaty flowmasters and my tune system was even louder with 4 10's taking up the entire rear cabin.

Well, back in the day I liked to partake in some late night socializing if you get my drift and I would roll in often times anywhere from midnight to 4 in the morning sometimes with a female companion that wanted to do so some bible readings with me, ha ha, and I would always have the tunes banging and have to rev up the motor good one last time before I shut her off. I had no idea that all this time the next door neighbors were getting all kinds of pissed off about it and ended up jumping my landlord about it and I dang near got my butt kicked out of there.

I manned up and told the neighbors I would keep it down and learned that lesson at a pretty young age. It's just an extension of courtesy in a civilized society. I just go other places to be uncivilized!

I sit in traffic and it sucks
I go to work and it sucks
I deal with fools all day and it sucks
I sit in traffic on the way home and it sucks

I want to come home and escape the bullshit and relax in peace.

I imagine others do too.

Every street has that one guy that has to play by his own rules and f'k everyone else.

I am not going to be him and I despise the ones that are him.

I just say kick back listen to your loud exhaust, have some cold ones and listen to some rock and roll music! You can't please everyone or anyone for that matter
