I think i'll wait until i see the c7, besides with the work i got in myZO6 i don't think chevy will make a vette stock that could run with it. The $$$ i spent on the Zo6 and the mods is still cheaper then that half *** vette they are selling now, for more $$$. Really now 50 grand for a z51???? The car looks like an acura nsx, from the front fender side looks like a viper, and whats with that cheap plastic were the back up lights sit and the front vent? Viper guys like the fact that there isnt alot of vipers around for 80 grand plus they could keep it, the new zo6 will most likley be 60 - 70 grand, still a good bang for the buck but chevy could keep it. I'm glad i modded my z. put a pro charger on a stock z @ 8pounds of boost and it puts 610rwhp for 8 grand more.

By your logic, why not get a Mustang, Subaru or a Lancer. If you put enough money into it, it'll outrun your Z and still end up costing less.

I had to laugh at your comment about the NSX because that's what the car magazines said when the C5 came out.

Eventually you'll tire of it and it'll be time for a new one. Eventually your Z will look and feel outdated, no matter how fast it is. If you can't afford a C6, it's perfectly ok to keep your Z but don't put down the C6 because you think it's too pricey. GM will make it competitive priced regardless of what you think.

Some people will buy the C6 because they love it. Some will buy because they don't have the time or inclination to put a pro charger on it and would like the additional performance over their old C5. Some will buy because it has exclusivity. There aren't a 1/4 million of them running around on the streets. Some will buy because it's just plain time for a new one and they don't want an old beater 2002 with an expired warranty. There are a thousand other reasons to get a C6. Everyone has their reason for keeping their old one. No one is forcing you to buy a C6. I love my C5 but I'll be waiting for that new Z.

Most of the people on this forum have owned previous vettes and when they owned them, they probably never imagined getting anything better. But times change.

The wife and I are considering trading in her 350Z on a C6. She thinks my ZO6 is too "loud and rowdy." She was worried that the C6 would be like my Z, but I assured her that is fairly quiet. I reallly don't like the 350Z, its not much faster than my shoe.

I like the C6 coupe and I certainly like those new C6 Z06 pics floating around but I am not going to buy one. My next new vehicle is going to be a loaded Dodge Magnum R/T Hemi with AWD. My daily driver is getting old and my Z06 still smells new.

I tend to feel the same as you. Its is sad in a way that BG could not come up with a more unique design to carry on the C5 in true style...

Oh well ...too late now!!!

Dont tell this to all the guys with their new C6 Coupes that kick *** compared to a stock Z06!!

According to almost every knowledgeable magazine writer and many other Vette afficienados, including Dave Hill, the C6 Z-51 still has only 75% of the performance capability of the C5 Z06...so who's getting their a%@$# kicked?!?

By the same token, where'd you get that 75% number? A Mustang probably has 75%. I heard it quite a bit differently and was left with quite a different impression.

LIKE MY Z TOO, BUT I'M NOT drivin' looks...would like to drive a new one, from what i've heard-they are pretty good-the z51 pkg will probably run right up against a stock z... but so little room on the road here in kaliforneia, to drive much beyond a honda civic, between the suv's and chp's unless its sun morning before 10am......... .

like i said before i'll wait to see what the c7 looks like, i think the c6 looks like ****. I love all vettes with the exception of the c6. to me it just dont look like a vette. It looks like some *** ****. Back in 96 i was going to buy the collectors edition and when i saw the c5 i loved it.I'm glad i didnt wait for a c6. the price is not an object either. the car could have 1000hp its still butt ugly and not worth 60 + grand to me! Also you never by the first 2 model years. 1. they have to work the bugs out and 2. let the people with more $$$ the brains get theirs first. So the price will come down. Ive seen a AMV price of 10 grand over sticker already. i dont know about you guys but i dont pay sticker, I'd buy a left over.

There is a certain attachment that the C5 Z has...and I dont know it will ever happen with the C6......???

400hp c6 vs 405 for the Z......They are close..75% seems alittle stretched

ps Dave Hill never said the C6 was 75% of the 2004 Z06 in preformance???

Please entertain us with some simple math to prove this 75% number. If this is true, I think it's funny as hell that a car with only 75% of the performance capability can turn out such close numbers in the quarter. That being said- I'd love to see some numbers to support the 75% claim.

To me it looks like someone backed it into a large belt sander and accidently ground off a foot or two. I think I could stand it if they added some length to the back end. It is a very awkward looking car as it sets...absolutely no symmetry to the design. It seems that making it marketable in Europe overtook the priority of good design. It is tragic to me that the connsumate American sports car should be subjected to such hideous styling. I am not that crazy about the front end styling, but I can tolerate it far more than I can the ugly back side!

Thank God I had sense enough to buy an 04 Z06!
Yeah, I have to agree GM Should have stayed loyal to its American buyers and not tried to please the European markets. to my 02Z

why buy a performance car that has less performance than the one you own. c6 with z51 package is only 75% the handling of the current zo6. Or is it just an image thing. I pulled up next to a c6 right near the dealers and the driver looked at me and looked at the salesman and i could read the salesmans lips telling the driver "no he will get you". when i saw all the differences between c5 and zo6 there was no way i was going to settle for a c5. I still see some c5 guys who get sad when i drive by them. If you dont want a conv. wait for the new zo6 , you dont want to be that sad guy or gal.

I could have purchased the C6 but did not like the look of the car. The 04 Z06 that I bought is a great car and I love everything about it. Having compared the 2 cars and pricing, it is a no brainer! The C5 Z06 looks better then the C6 and has better performance. Now, when the new C6 Z06 comes out, I may change my mind. But, GM needs to change the look of the front end or I will never buy the C6 Z...The front is just plain ugly!

It's a smaller version actually and it's heavier than the Z06 with 5hp less. You can't make others like the C6 just because you do, this is a simple exercise in polling a preference. Nobody HAS to like a car JUST because it's a Corvette or unAmerican. I also don't think this is a hate thread, you either like it or you don't. Newer doesn't make it automatically better even if it was more capable otherwise people wouldn't prefer say a '65 Impala over a modern one. It's just a question of taste.

Now it may be that the C5 did look a little Japanese compared to the lantern-jawed all-American C4 but there was little doubt it was a quantum leap better constructed. Now the C6 IS undoubtedly better than the stock C5 in handling and performance, I doubt anybody would truly dissent on that point, but the C6 isn't perhaps the quantum leap over the C5 that the C5 was over the C4. Better, yes, but not so much better it was night and day.

In other words, it would be easy to appreciate the C5's superiority over the 13 year old C4 and easier to justify buying one if you liked the looks (and most people clearly do). With the C6, the respective abilities are closer and the cost factor and looks factor are therefore far more critical in deciding to buy or not because you lose less....and in this case, the Z06 provides a superior power output and handling experience (OK, shall we compromise and say at least equal) so is a true alternative to the C6. For my part, I don't like the looks of the C6 but bow to anyone who says they do and I think the much vaunted new interior is cheap and silvery and worse than the C5 (but you may and are entitled to disagree). For sure, the C5's seats are rubbish and I prefer the C6 wheels.
