Leak Checks

I didn't find anything in the loch ness monster tube behind the battery, but I flushed it out anyway. Then after getting my paws on the drain in the firewall, I pulled out what looked to be a piece or two of plastic tape stuck in the little guy. Then, per Dr. Curlee's suggestion, I got a tube, stuck it in the drain hole and attached it to a shop vac....well I pulled out about 1/2 cup or more of water and I haven't had the issue since.
The normal 'draining' is back to what it should be.Thanks again Bill for the great write up, the personal help and tips and ideas. I and many others could not have done it without you.

Best,
GBM
Thanks,
Alex

Unfortunately i didnt get to take any pictures last night as i left my camera at work
. I'll try to explain what was involved the best i can though. My first step was to remove the weather stripping around the door. IT pulls down easily from the roofline but is glued and "push pinned" on either end. This step needs to be done with alot of patience so you dont rip the weatherstripping. Once that is removed there is a metal channel that the weather stripping snaps into thats held on with 9 screws. Once they are removed you'll notice GM used a piece of double sided foam tape to adhere the channel to the plastic behind it, carefully separate the metal channel from the adhesive tape. This can be tricky but i was able to do it without tearing it too bad.
The Double sided tape covers another set of screws that hold on the plastic roof molding, I believe there are 5 of them. Note the location of these screw holes for reassembly. The Plastic trim should pull off easily once the screws are removed, and expose the side of the windshield and roofline. From there i cleaned out some dirt and grime and applied some GM Silastic where i thought it would help and began re assembling everything. It didnt require any special tools but if your not careful you could definately make it worse. The weather stripping around the glass was the hardest part to get 100%, i probably got it to 95% factory (comparing it to the passenger side) It looks like it sealed pretty tight, so im hoping i didnt create more problem areas.
To be honest i still dont know if i fixed the problem or made it worse as i wanted to let the silastic setup before i started poring water on the car. It looks like rain today though so im sure i'll find out if it worked shortly. If it doesnt work my next step will be to purchase all new trim, though i hear that gets expensive.

I'm not certain if my problem was addressed in this thread. After washing or exposure to rain, while driving my left foot gets dripped on--not a whole lot of water, but I really hate wet socks, and having water, however minimal, coming into the cabin over the clutch pedal isn't good.
I had the left fender off last month, and cleaned out the udders at that time--I only found two, not three.
The car is a 2003 Z06.
Is this something that I missed in the thread and others have dealt with, or do I have a new kind of leak?
Many thanks for your assistance, and kudos to all of you that post your solutions to problems big and small!!!

Ive watch GM build Corvettes at the Bowling Green plant. There ALL checked in a torrential down pour booth and IF the car leaked,,,it would have been fixed. Your leak is the result of an accident, improper maintenance, poor house keeping or last but not least,,an error from GM. I agree,,GM does have errors and theres a whole chapter on leaks. There are even Technical Service Bulletins on leaks. If it were a build error from GM,,,it should have been identified during the warranty period.
My recommendation would be to remove the windshield cowl cover and inspect the area at the base of the windshield for damage or sealing issues. Theres a bulkhead seal where the wiper wires go thru the fire wall in the udder well. All that stuff needs to be checked.
Look closely in this area:

Pull the seat and carpets and have someone run water over the hood, then windshield then roof and you look under the dash for leaks
. Plus i also hear a small air leak at certain speeds. I even did the window thing where you loosen the bolt underneath the door. It was all the way moved in. Same as passenger side. It air leaks at high speeds. I hate that the stripping it soooo expensive. Roughly $250 bucks for both sides.

I found ALL my leaks by removing enough interior stuff to see the source of the leak.
Besides,,,,once you have all that stuff out,,,you can clean it AND,,you can install some sound deadening/heat rejection material once you solve the leak issue... (Frost King worked very well for me)
Let me know If i can help.
