well

my friend Robert was helping me and he has done C5 headers several times...
alas, he was used to pulling the stock ones from thebottom and putting the new ones in from the bottom..

so this install frustrated him -

once we pulled the alternator and the coil pack banks, disconnected the ground wire strap thingy, and pulled a few cables out of the way, everything went in fine.

I did the 180 degree turn of the bell housing mounting plate.. seems the tabs will line up ok. The pass side will need some persuasion before it lines up and I THINK the O2 sensor on that side will clear..
wont know till we are in there solid.

Didn't pick up gaskets last week - was too busy -
and Oriley's, AutoZone, and Adv. Auto Parts all had LT1 header gaskets but no LS1.. ODD!

So off to the dealership tomorrow afternoon and we will finish up tomorrow night

Great! Headers are one of the hardest mods you'll do... it sounds like yours went very well! All of the tips we've learned seems to have helped as well.

Congrats again! I can't wait to see pics of the install! Especially the SS pipe you got...

How does your AC line look?

BTW, I drove the car for the first time today. Wow what a difference. Keep in mind I had heads/cam before this so I had a huge restriction but the sound is much deeper after 2500rpms and it just sounds awesome as it revs. I can now spin 4th gear where before I could only chirp 4th. On a datalog today I went from 104mph to 113 mph on the 3-4 shift so the tires are spinning and not the clutch. Even before Im tuning WOT I'm noticing a difference. Very impressed.

Just got finished installing my headers about an hour ago. Major PIA doing it by yourself! I fried an 02 and the car is running like complete crap. Had to drive it open headers all the way home and have to somehow make it to the exhaust shop tomorrow. I'll try and take pics sometime soon.

Oh Boy! I didn't realise you were going solo! THAT is a tough job by yourself!!!!! I'm pressed you did it alone!

How did you fry an O2? Or did you mean the wiring???

UPDATE How did your Passenger O2 sensor line up???????

Hmmmm I could suggest that. Maybe even do a full 3" system in the future? I whole reason I got involved in this stemmed from working with them on a CatBack... Sheesh, if I would've known... LOL

Haha thanks! I actually fried the 02 being a dumbass. I never disconnected the battery and was installing the header with the 02 installed and it touched the starter hot lead.....well lets just say there was a glowing hot piece and a lot of smoke!

I will try and take a pic of the setup tomorrow. I was actually able to install the 02's after bolting in the headers so it must have been better than the other guys.

I'm getting a dyno and tune in a week or so, I don't have a before baseline but we should be able to figure out a number by using fairly stock C5 M6 numbers...

SSAutochrome http://www.ssautochrome.com/level.itml/icOid/1698 is the manufacturer and they've made me a go between, I'll PM you the ordering info...

Thanks - 338.15 hp was max figure - in green - at the rear wheels.

Flywheel hp numbers comes from adding 19% (thats what the shop told me, anyhow) He might have been blowing smoke up my ****.
