My car is also an A4. The header is sitting on the trans lines a little bit but I didn't think it would be much of a problem. I do need to do something about the A/C lines today though.

I think you all are way too worried about hooking up those bellhousing mounting brackets. I cut mine off to install the relocated O2 bungs on the original version and have had no problems in a year's time. Remember that stainless has a high rate of expansion when heated and the tubes will work against that bracket connection until it cracks. A lot of headers like Kooks don't even have those tabs.

IMHO, the Air Tubes and dip stick mount are more important to have installed on the headers like the originals had, but there has to be two versions for the pre and post 2001's. So, I quess to keep the price low, they don't do either.

I agree about the mounting. I didn't bother flipping that bellhousing bracket. I've installed headers on all of my previous trans ams and they never had anything like that on them that needed to be done.

100% on the AIR and Dipstick nut. I'm toying with the idea of placing the Passenger side AIR tube inbetween the last two runners on a TEE, of course then both year groups would have to do a little bending...

Any other ideas?

I just pried the ac line away from the passenger side header. Got a decent amount of clearance now so no worries. Got two exhaust leaks where the x-pipe connects to the pipes going to the collectors in place of the cats. The cuts made in the x-pipe from SS Autochrome were too long and can't just be clamped together without a leak in my case.

I'm assuming you used saddle clamps and not band clamps right?

Yes, the ones they sent were crappy and too long. I found some others in the shop that were shorter and stronger. Maybe I need to go have that part welded this week.

Or get some lap joint band clamps, they worked awesome for me. Plus you can unbolt em to remove the pipes if need be in the future... Just my .02

Threw codes, but my 02 sensors looked like hell (Plus the exhaust shop pretty much had to re-do everything we did last night and STILL could not get it to line up very well)
It was lots of work on their part while on the lift and cost my $120.00 in labor and effort - OUCH!

BUT, they are on -

I reved it a few times in the parking lot and got code 0151
O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (bank 2 sensor 1)

It was sputtering and popping and giving me weak jitery throttle response.

Turned around and went back to the shop.
Jacked it up on one side -
slid under..
Pass side, front O2 sensor looked ok.
Was connected as best I could tell.

Got down the road and within a mile or so, the car ran great.
Smooth shifts, nice tone, and plenty of response when I gave it gas.

I get it home, shut if off.
Crank it up and same deal again - weak throttle, sputtering and mild popping on deceleration.

Just checked codes again (after washing her)
And cleared them:

0131 -o2 sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, sensor 1)
0151 - o2 sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2, sensor 1)
0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire

THEN it gives me odd codes that are not in my book:

quote tstar: You might be the first A4 to do the install. Hey man what about me????

Oh and by the way guys I get to order a new hose for A/C tomorrow because my Version 1 PS header burned a hole in mine and I get to pull the bad header and put it back in to replace the hose because SS keeps giving me the run around and won't even reply to my emails an even offer to send me a correct header. Right now I'm not very happy with their customer service. Sure wish I had a phone # to call.

My header was right up on my A/C line bad also but I got it pried out today in time. I agree that SS is really bad about emails. I think I did see a number for them when I paid with paypal and I almost wrote it down for future reference but didn't

I did mine the other day and had very little problems .. I even used my stock cats I just cut them out of the stock exhust and welded 3 inch adapters to the front of them and left apox. 1 1/2 foot of the stock pipe out the back of them to measure them up before cutting to size then just slipped them into their x-pipe and slid the 3 inch end over the collectors ..rerouted the O2 harneses and for the dip stick tube I left it in the stock location with the stock bolt just shimmed it out 1/4 inch to clear the header flange. tail pipes are striaght as an arrow...sounds and runs great best money my son has spent . ( these where a gift from him )

Keep an eye on that hose mine had about 1" gap and I though I was safe. That phone # is their fax # I have yet to hear of anyone getting ahold of a real phone number or even talking voice to voice with anyone that works there.

Did yours have that factory heat wrap over it still? I may shove some sort of heat wrap between the A/C line and header if yours still burnt.

I rarely ever go out there. Bunch of dumb asses out there always getting in wrecks and driving like nuts. Get on www.memphisracingscene.com and check out their street racing section for local races going on.
