If you can, I would have them start it up and listen to it. I hated my little 25 gallon five horse oiless portable, but love my stand up Ingersoll Rand. I didn't like working in the same area with the little one. It was so loud, but the little one was a third of the price of the big 60 gallon. Most big ones run off of 220v as well. My neighbor across the street has that sears one. It doesn't sound that quiet to me, but you'd have to compare them yourself.

Yes, you can get a quieter (oiled) compressor, but it'll cost you quite a bit more if new.

I built plywood boxes lined with old carpet from the den to enclose mine , makes a world of difference on the noise leve
Better than that is to enclose them outside the shop/garage and run the air and electrical though the wall
