Default C5 suspension only made for run-flat?

Hi there, I went to a tire shop here in Europe to balance my wheels (I have non-runflat Michelin PS2 tires) and this guy said that it's not the right tire for the C5 because the suspension is designed for runflat tires only. He said when you're driving above 150mph the steering response is gonna be dangerous. Is this true?

He is right, depending who is at the wheel of the car! I'd ask if he gives the same advise to ZO6 owners!

Yep, I agree, find another shop....

I guess the ZO6 cant go over 150???? It does NOT have Run Flats!

The guy is NOT correct. I have switched to non run flats on ALL my new Corvettes with ZERO ill effects. In fact, the ride is smother, quiter and better equiped to carve the curves. My Toyo Proxies T1R's non run flats are the best street tire I have ever owned! I have them on my 02 Z and 06 Coupe

I've got Michelin PS 2's as well. Bought it used with them, then put on a 2nd set, so I have nothing to compare them to. Have you run these, and if so, how would you compare them? The PS 2's are insanely expensive and I'm thinking about the Kumho extreme performance tire when it's time for new rubber. Any experience with these?
Thanks

I did notice when I switched to the non runflat PS2, the tire is a bit more flexing compared to the runflat GY's, but the noise and grip is way better and the load index is even higher, so that means that the tire will keep in shape a very high speeds

That is a given. A run flat works because of the extra rigid side wall. A rigid side wall is nice when running the twisties. The rigidity of the side wall is one of the differences between a primarily drag tire vs a predominantly road course tire.

These tire guys never cease to amaze me. Why is it that they always feel like they
can say any type of bull they want to get the client to spend more money?

Go to a real tire shop and don't forget to tell them where they can stick their runflats.

I purchased CCW 505a rims and 305 width rear tires 295's on the fronts for my 02 ZO6. The CCW's came with the Prellie P Zero tire package.

I had headers installed at the same time and when i went to pick the car up, I had Justin at ZIP take a ride with me. I took an On Ramp to a highway and almost slid off the road.

They were that much different than my half wore out OEM Supercar Tires. I chalked it up as the tires being new and needing to be scuffed up. I had to re-learn how to drive the car as not to have the car swap ends.

I was SOOOOOOO Glad when they wore out!

Some people have posted that they really liked the Kumho's, especially at the price. There have also been many good reviews and user comments for the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 tires. I agree with you that the PS2's are just too expensive for the tire you get considering there are so many other tires that are either as good or very close for much less. I'm trying out Bridgestone RE-11's which seems to perform as well to me.

Sounds like crack is a problem in Europe also...Tell the tire guy to put down the pipe. It's making him talk stupid.

I'm a little dissapointed in the PS2's. For the money, I expected them to do my laundry and make my dinner. Poor traction at my HP level. Next set will be something else...Maybe the Kumho XS.
