I have a dead Delco on my '02 Z06 Garage Queen - (10,200 mi). I have used a battery tender but the Delco won't hold a chg anymore. I understand mechanics but electricity is FM (friggin magic) to me. I have been reading about wet cells (rather not), gel cells, dry cells and deep cycle - totally confused. The only other electrical drain from stock is that I added a complete LG sound system - 1 amp is 500w and the other 300w run straight to the batt w/a #1 ga wire. The car does sit in my garage for long periods of time (up to 30 - 60 days) but I've been using a battery tender most of the time during those periods. If price were no concern (it is somewhat) what batt is going to fit and give me the best service with the above options and use in mind.
Any knowledgeable info or advice will be greatly appreciated! (I know that there are other threads on this but feared it might be outdated info with technology improving so fast)
Many Thanks,

This has been covered a fair amount and the general consensus is that there is no consensus. Personally I've had good luck with DieHard and Optima in the past. Just buy a name you've heard of and you really can't lose.
If you drain and recharge a lot go for a deep cycle battery like the optima yellow top...
That's the deep cycle - right? As I said - electricity is "FM" to me - I know I have 6v deep cycle batts hooked in a series in my diesel pusher motor coach. Those are the "house" - not engine batt. Is there an advantage to the deep cycle in the Vette? And what? I'm definately going gel cell.
2) They come with a decent warranty...there is Wal Mart everywhere in the US, no matter where you get stranded, if you ever do, they will recondition/test/replace your battery for free

I agree, except I will never let a WalMart employee try to lift out my old battery or put a new battery in. It's a recipe for disaster... The greeters at WalMart have bigger muscles..
My next battery will be walmart special, after 2 over rated/priced Red tops and one my 68 camaro.. i may run a little better battery in the camaro but if the CCA are over 8-900 I'll throw a walmart special in that thing too...who cares with a 5 year warranty?
I Only use Delco.
Paid $68.39 over the dealer counter for a 5 year Delco battery that has Always Lasted a lot longer, 7 to 10 years usually.
And it is original G.M.

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is that deep cycle batteries respond better to being drained and recharged repeatedly. If you don't drive your car much and don't use a good battery tender this is probably the way to go.
