Climbing "up" is a lot like being in a tree full of monkeys, unless you're at the top of the tree, when you look up to go higher, all you see are A - HOLES!
In a bucket of crabs, if one tries to climb out to freedom, the others will pull it back down. That's the mentality behind folks not liking people who are successful.
But it is best not to brag. Envy is the green eyed monster that stalks us all! Run for the hills!!!!!!
[/QUOTE] Thanks JFTaylor! That's exactly why I drive a Corvette!
ATTENTION AIRMAN AintQik: Thank you for your honorable service to our country! I very much appreciate it. I understand the personal sacrifices the US Military makes, so we civilians can pursue productive, fulfilling lives. If I ever meet you, I'll shake your hand and buy the beer.

It may depend on were you live. Where I live C6's are no big deal, you see other more exotic and expensive cars around along with the liberal green hybrids and just about everything in between. Normally when I go to an area that does not see a lot of sport or expensive cars my Corvettes usually get the thumps up from young and old alike.
I just love these hot threads. My experiences have only been positive...I've met lots of nice people as a result of driving a Corvette...men, women, young, old, 'ricers,' hot-rodders, whatever...it's all been good. If someone has a problem because I own a Corvette...well that's their problem not mine.

But concerning Porsche owners...I got a big wave from a Porsche driver a while back...blew me right away. I had to re-think my whole opinion of Porsche drivers. Just kidding...I see many Porsche owners at the track regularly...a nice group of guys. We talk about cars and drive fast around the track.
I'm a soldier, Mustang-low buck hotrod guy who loves car to death. I build everything I drive. The reason people like me hate people like you is because you feel driven to tell us, in your every action, behavior and statement that you are worth 7 figures. You buy these cars not because you love her history, not because you love american muscle, but because its a status symbol and it signifys wealth. You probably also have a hummer and something made in Germany. Your watch costs more than my first car. Your attitude sucks and everyday people want to step on your pompous neck.
I am making rash broad sweeping statements here, some of which may or may not apply to you. The mes and yous were not meant to attack you personally, but you get the idea.
On a personal note, I feel sorry for the guys that flaunt these cars and their money. They are missing out on the pure love of motorsports. You can't understand what it means to dump everything you have into a materialistic piece of composite just to be able to wake up and hear that cam popping off in the morning. I don't hate those folks at all. Wouldn't trade my life for theirs ever.
Perhaps those haters just got you pegged, rightly or wrongly, for one of dem guys with money and no car love.
Sorry, but I agree with this post, except for the Mustang part (although I can appreciate a nice Mustang). I think the problem is yours...not theirs.
My Vette in particular is a a 1lt, that I paid less than 41k for. There are Tahoes, Suburban, Yukons, etc that cost way more. The car is still a Chevy, they make pick-ups and Cobalts for Christs' sake. I think we get the attention we do for the way the car LOOKS, not how much the car costs. After the shock of how good the car LOOKS, then comes in the wondering of how much I make, how much it cost me, etc. I know of a neighbor and a co-worker that flat out stopped talking to me once I got mine, no biggie, we were never drinking buddies anyway.
Imagine how many people could have a Vette if they didn't have child support, alimony, didn't smoke, didn't drink, bad credit, children, weekly daycare........or had a wife that has a job.
I was able to buy my Vette because I made the right choices early on in life. I by no means flaunt to be some big balla with six figures. I will most likely never see six figures unless I win some lottery. I have other nice vehicles, but If I ever need another car, it will probably be less than 25k, and better get 35 mpg in the city.
For some people, it's really not how much you make, but how much you keep.
When I see other Vette owners, I don't think to myself "wow he/she makes a lotta $$$", I think "He/she has great taste in cars."
Only now do I really wonder about the mindsets of boarders here, I know its getting cold, and people are inside more, so post counts will go up. But why would you put your name and a real address in a profile and then say how much they make, or how much they are worth !
Also people slam others for making too much and not being "pure"
if you aren't a poor build it yourself guy your nothing
MOST OF us are here because we love or like corvettes

You could have taken your thought from my head A Corvette is far from a rich man's car. Almost anyone with a decent job can drive a C6. Seriously...some 05 coupes are going in the low 30's. There are very few who'd know the cosmetic differences between 05 and 08. just my 02 cents

I think it all has to do with the owner of the cars attitude. People are quit perceptive, give someone is giving out a bad vibe it will be picked up.
I am a young profesional and many people ask me "what my clients think of the Corvette" My experiance is that everyone loves my vette because I really love it and thats why I bought it. If I bought a ford taurus becuase I wanted to be like my clients or a BMW/lexus to be like others in my profession than that would have been fake and people can tell.
If you are honest, treat everybody according to the golden rule, live your life in balance, and Give more than you take, than everbody for the most part will treat you nice and with respect.
Let me ask, what have you done to change people's perceptions?
When in the vette I always make it a point to smile, wave, answere kids questions, let them sit in the car, give folks the right of way, and let tractor trailers into my lane.
I drive Corvettes because I love Corvettes … period. I don’t even own another car …
I do play the lottery from time to time AND I live in Vegas … Yeeee Hawwww!!!!
I'm new to the corvette community, I've owned my C6 for a few months now, love the car immensely. The quesiton I have, why is it that the general public tend to hate or envy someone driving a corvette. I'm sure there's some psychological reason/s behind it.......but I just don't understand it. Sure I make in excess of six figures, have a networth of perhaps 7 figures, but I've worked hard for what I've achieved..........why all haters......please feel free to counsel me............

your comments are at best obnoxious. there are lots of people on here who have larger incomes than you. But dont feel the need to blare their horns about it. You are throwing your money into peoples faces that have also worked hard, but havent been as fortunate.
