Forget what the computer says you are "getting" as you drive. Your overall MPG that you get for a complete tank is what counts. From Chicago to San Diego, in flat Nebraska, I averaged 27.5 & 27.5 MPG for two tanks. For the full trip I averaged 25.8 in my 2010 base. My DIC is .2 MPG higher than an actual calculator. My numbers are from the calculator.

Bought my 2005 in October '13 with 56,800. Base coupe with 6-spd.
Since then I've driven 4863 miles on 328.5 gallons. Average MPG = 14.8. Pretty dismal but I only drive 3.6 miles to work and back each day so I get what I get.
On the highway though, I've gotten up to 27.3 (384 miles) driving from L.A to S.F. I should have tried going a lot farther but it was my first long trip and I really didn't want to drive through the Bay Area with a very low tank.

You will getting better fuel use heading back down to L.A.
According to Fuelly (Check it out, free service, not a vendor, I have no affiliation: www.fuelly.com/) my last five fill ups were 19.7, 18.5, 20.3, 19.2, 19.0 mpg.

You would think. Return trip had me fill up in 315 miles at 25.2 MPG. That was during the heat wave we had and it was over 100 degrees along part of the journey down the I-5.
A few days after getting home and driving around a bit, I filled up in 347 miles at 26.5 MPG.
The entire trip (plus the few days driving around Monterey, Carmel, SF and back home) was 1046 miles at 26.3 MPG.
In driving from Louisville to Bowling Green and back with a group of five, All running 73-75mph. Verts 25-26. coups 26-29. Sticks about 1 mpg better. Seems the coups are a little slicker aero and get slightly better mph.
Well I just completed my first road trip for Fathers Day, six days, 1951 miles to NC from WI...golfed my way down and then for four days with my son...may be my best Fathers Day ever!
These are the things that stood out:
Even with the Edelbrock SC installed this past winter and now 500/500 when I step on it:
* First tank with Ethanol all interstate 29.6 MPG
* Second tank no Ethanol all interstate 32.4 MPG
* The next two same...32+ MPG
* 13 hour drive straight home
* Borla S Type II are just enough...no drone on interstate...but it ain't no company car cruising down the road.
I literally could have driven the 900 or so miles on two tanks...ridiculous! AC was on all the time and saw no effect on the mpg.
2000 rpm @ 80 mph....sick!
Red is an '07 A6 vert with stock 2.56:1 rear and stock exhaust. It also has an Edelbrock E-Force 1593 supercharger installed & tuned by Chuck Mosello at Corvettes of Westchester. On the 1,000+ mile drive back to StLouis after the install Red averaged 37.7 mpg with the cruise set to 75-80. Commuting 15 miles to/from work I typically get 22-23 mpg. Chuck told me he's not surprised, that the E-Force really helps the LS2 "breath".

WOW...that is way cool. Yeh if you don't put your foot into it, it's just like a nice tame Vette... I was shocked as I had the Vette pretty loaded with clubs and luggage and a big slushy for the road trip and I have the Z51 M6 and didn't realize it supposedly still pulls a little higher RPM in 6th...hell at 80 MPH I'm at 2K how much lower should it be!
I also was surprised because before I put on the SC I read about parasitic loss is always there, etc. so I really thought my DIC was misbehaving ...and had to double check the math by hand when I filled up for the second tank.
Amazing isn't it...best of both worlds and I was only looking for one...
We recently took a couple of day trip, and we were getting 32 mpg on a state hwy where we were driving 60, but on the interstate, averaging 78, we got 27.
I averaged 27.8 on a trip from Hampton VA to Charlottesville VA and back. The trip there was mostly on back country roads then some driving in Charlottesville and home mostly interstate. With a group of 23 other Corvettes going and solo on the way back. I have seen as high as 34 on stretch of interstate 2008 auto 2.56 axle ratio
I actually have seen 30.4 on mine on cruise at 70-72 mph on a 6 hour trip with the original goodyear tires. I put new Michelin run flats on it and now don't get but around 28 miles per gallon. Must be a different circumference. Don't know!

My mileage dropped when I switched to Michelins, but the wet traction was so bad on the stock tires I will not go back.. But since I have switch to Bridgestones and my mileage is back up and the wet traction is even better than the Michelins.
