Well I just completed my first road trip for Fathers Day, six days, 1951 miles to NC from WI...golfed my way down and then for four days with my son...may be my best Fathers Day ever!
These are the things that stood out:
Even with the Edelbrock SC installed this past winter and now 500/500 when I step on it:
* First tank with Ethanol all interstate 29.6 MPG
* Second tank no Ethanol all interstate 32.4 MPG
* The next two same...32+ MPG
* 13 hour drive straight home
* Borla S Type II are just enough...no drone on interstate...but it ain't no company car cruising down the road.
I literally could have driven the 900 or so miles on two tanks...ridiculous! AC was on all the time and saw no effect on the mpg.
I have a 2008 3LT, A6, with Performance 2.73 ratio axle. On the highway I get around 29 cruising 75-80 on 10% ethanol premium. this is on pretty flat highway, in the hills it drops a little but still around 28.
I have only had the 08 a few months and have not had an opportunity to run PURE gas in it on a trip. But in my Avalon daily driver I see an increase of 10% on pure gas, sadly the closest station to me is about 70 miles away.
Are any of you able to get PURE gas in our area? Wish I could run it all the time in everything.
Only at the Mom & Pop stations, but i will not get the gas they sell....
Around town we are getting a little over 18 so far. We have an 07 manual - would you think something is wrong somewhere (out of tune maybe) since the highway is so low?
08 auto with COW tune CORSA exhaust and 3:42 gears and I get 28 mpg at 75-80 all the way from MA to FLA. 21 around town.
I got 25-26 mpg on a rt. 66 trip early this year with the cruise set between 75-85 in the 75 mph States. I verified this with actual math when I filled up in the event the DIC was being optimistic. I have a Z51 manual with 3.42 axle.
Just took delivery of my 6mn 07 one week ago. Three hour drive home, 70-75mph averaged 29.9mpg. Yesterday drove from our home to our daughter's house, a 5 hour 322 mile drive, filled up with 12 gallons, figures 27.6. Won't get quite that on the next tank as I've been giving "rides" since I got here.
Rarely came close to that in my C5 or C4 and never came close to that when I owned my 64. And on top of that, none of my previous Corvettes could compete performancewise either.
2012 6speed stick..... base coupe
just finished another 17 hours from Atlanta to Daytona over to Tampa and back.....first off....this is a very comfy long trip car....
I've never had a car that could make the 458 miles/ 7 hour trip on one tank until this Vette...but it was pretty empty & only read that I had 46 miles left...
I was seeing some very solid 32 mpg on straight flat freeway.... even with one bath room stop and a lunch break plus some construction and a few traffic slowdowns, and a couple of blasts for fun, I still achieved a surprising 29.8 mpg for the whole trip down(near the end of the trip I admit I was trying to milk it a little to see if I could get to 30mpg)..... I set the Average speed before I left and to my surprise... I averaged 78 mph for the whole trip down, even with the slow downs and stopping/starting a few times.... and had the cruise set for about 80mph when there wasn't traffic....
putting around at the beach, not so great....17mpg taking it easy except for a few blasts here and there
most surprising was the cross florida trip to tampa.... mostly 2 lane hwy thru what seemed like 100 small towns with 25-35 mph limits and I still got 28.1 mpg...forgot to reset the average mph tho....
My 07 Coupe has recorded a couple 30 mpg 100 mile trips. The 11 GS only gets around 27 highway.
I found milage is actually better on hilly terrain, it apparently picks up more on the downhill sections than it loses on the uphill. When compared to the average reading on dead flat Interstate in Eastern Arkansas with cruise set at 70. About 28 mpg is the best the 07 will register for several flat miles.

I have seen a couple mentions of folks getting 26 MPG or higher on the highway - I certainly have not been able to accomplish that. We went on a two hour drive, had the cruise set on 78-80 and averaged about 21.4 over and back. Do you have to drive 65 to get the high MPG? (cuz I don't think I could do that!) :o
What does everyone usually average town/highway?
Believe!
Dividing a range of 592 miles by a capacity of 18 gal = 32.88 mpg
This is in my 07 A6 when it was five years old and being driven in hot Utah weather. The tires were worn quite a bit at the time (Firestone Wide Ovals RFT).
I read the Title of this thread and then reread it and read it one more time....then scratched my head.... you don't buy a corvette for fuel economy
well.. my previous DD was a Lifted JK Wangler.. that got 16 MPG if I kept it below 75... if it wasn't windy. And.. it's always windy. So I now have my 07 Coupe and I have been averaging 25.2 on my same DD routine.

The transmission gearing is different in a Z51 then a base(non Z51 C6) or the Z06. In 6th gear, cruising at 75 MPH, your engine is turning 230 RPM more then a base C6 w/o Z51 or a Z06 in 6th gear at 75 MPH.
More RPM= more gas used.
For those that have a Grand Sport, you have the same gearing as in the Z51 which accounts partly for your reduced gas mileage compared to a base C6.
So with my 08 1LT MN6 with upgraded 4:10 gearing I see about 100 more rpm at the same speed as compared to the Z51 and 325 rpm more than the 3:42 non Z51 set up.
Just for comparision sake.
I always wondered what the difference was between the Z51 and non Z51.
