I mentioned that I had seen a lot of this issue on Cadillacs. My wife also worked at the Caddy dealer after I left there. I mentioned this to her. She said customers came in with defroster vents buckling up. Dash would be peeling up and coming unglued. She said they pulled the dash pads in the shop and sent the pad to a nearby trim ship that re glued them. She said she never knew of any re-do or comebacks. She also said she thought that Cadillac had a TSB on the issue.
Obviously GM has been dealing with this quite a while. Thats why I threw the Cadillac info out there about TSB and repair. At least since 2005 or there about.
I just noticed the same problem in my car, 2013 427 4LT (diamond blue 60th), leather separation!
I am the original owner, the car is only 11 months old, and it has sat in the sun less that 30 days in it's entire life. Not happy. If heat & sun are the cause, southern owners - beware.
I'm relived to read the OP's post that the problem can be fixed and the dash pad replaced without squeaks. It's a major annoyance and waste of my time, but at least it can be done. I expect the repair at no cost under warranty. Will see. But I am worried it will happen again post-warrenty sometime in the next few years and that many more C6 leather dash owners will see the problem as well.
Took car to Dimmit Chevrolet in Clearwater yesterday. Got passed to three different service writers, but the gal who ended up helping me verified my warranty, and ordered the dash. Will be two day install. They have a Corvette Specialist there, they stated... He was out, but I plan on meeting him. A five minute conversation should tell the tale.
I will recommend he get involved with this forum. Warranty work and upgrades are decent money for a dealer, and if the dealers see the common issues, might benefit all Vette owners.
Would have loved to taken car back to Stingray Chevrolet, where I purchased it, but it would be a 100 mile round trip to drop it off.
Also asked about drivers seat bottom ( leeather is already badly wrinkled and hard) and about all door window weatherstip (has started to break down, spotty looking).
They were a little wierd about my 2011 with inservice date of Feb13! Again, thanks to Stingray for their hidden gem demos!
See my post, #44. My dealer had me in and out in 4 hours. I dropped it off, and they had removed, installed, and checked for rattles and squeaks. I would be leery of leaving my car for 2 days, but I may be a little paranoid!!!
Hey TL- Great happy ending! Very happy, how is it holding up?
Hey Jb- If you want me to get involved and help out private message me and I will see what I can do. If you are within your warranties head over to your dealer and get it taken care of ASAP so it does not get worse. Keep us all posted.
Just thought I would share this:
I found yesterday that my dash pad is also coming up in the front by the HUD and if front of the defroster vents. It is a 2009 3LZ Z06 purchased new June 2010 in Fairhope, Al. We are currently in VA so I took it into the local dealer today. I am just over 3 months out of the 3/36 warranty. Service manager looked at the issue, pulled a warranty quote together. part is 1999.00 and calls for 2.5 hours to replace. They are doing this for me with a good will co-pay. Costing me out of pocket 226.43. I can't complain about that given it was truly out of warranty and they are working with me on it with no questions asked. Very pleased with them and the no hassle about out of warranty. I was thinking of pulling it myself and attempting to re-glue it. 226.43 for a new dash installed is a no brainer.

Oh this is not the first 4lt dash I have seen do this it's a common problem.
You don't need to live in FL or AZ to have this dash problem. Mine was never further south than the assembly plant in BG, garage parked most days, and under 1 year old.
I did read on one of the custom leather dash vendor sites that these dashes are prone to coming apart due to the use of a stock plastic dash underneath the leather covering that over time will off-gas and cause separation. It will be interesting if the replacement dashes will come apart. Keep us posted!
In my case, I'm still looking for an alternative to a ~$2,200 GM replacement 4LT dash. My problem is that my dash is black w/white.

I looked into DSV for a replacement pad. About the same price as stock, but much better leather.
This is exactly my problem. I've only owned it a couple of years and have always garaged it. It's my "Sunday" car. I'll try and find someone local that can do a good job.
