Use the pedal on the right or move out of the passing lane/move to the right. Can’t tell you how many oblivious Corvette drivers (and drivers in general) think that just because you’re doing 64 in a 60 that you have the right to putt along in the passing lane, co*ck-blocking everyone else, because you spent the last 33 years saving up your 401k to push off your retirement so you can purchase the plastic car of your dreams. Follow the rules of the road and, miraculously, tailgating is less prevalent.
Edit: /rant about bad drivers wondering why everyone tailgates them and/or flips them off.

Or they see me on the interstate and go full throttle until they're out of site. Dodge pickups, especially the black ones with black rims are notorious for this. I'm sure they went home or on facebook and told everyone how they smoked a corvette on the interstate.
These folks are actually operating from a position of utter selflessness. Why, they are risking getting a ticket just so they can find the radar trap before you get to it.
Believe me, the whole situation was completely surreal, but it got really real at the end of it all. I just hope I'm never put in another situation where I feel the need to pull my gun out. I never had to when I was a LEO in my early 20's, and honestly thought I never would.
The only time I ever almost completely lost it is when someone did exactly what you described. Get the hell out of the way. You were the problem and instigated the whole thing. Pacing someone in the lane next to you will lead to really pissing someone off and it's illegal regardless of your speed and the posted speed limit and made the whole situation even worse. Holy crap people are oblivious, and so oblivious they post it on the internet.
They make products like this: Back Off Brake Light for this exact thing. I've noticed the same thing when driving mine. I don't think it happens anymore in a sports car, I think people are just rude a$$ holes. Just today in my truck I had some POS impala behind me that by the looks of his vehicle, probably didn't have insurance. He was so close to me that I couldn't see his headlights over my tailgate.
I had one so close he set off my radar warning. Scary....I just pull aside when I can and let him go...let him eat dirt and die...
To add a positive note, I notice that people move over for me much more frequently when I’m in the Vette vs. anything else (even on my old crotch rocket). Maybe because it’s red.
This especially happens on mountain roads. People pull off for me all the time to pass. Except for big diesel pickups. For some reason, those guys most frequently NEVER pull off. Almost like they’re doing it on purpose.
LOL....Yea....the big diesel pickup drivers crack me up. Probably only about 10% of the owners actually need the benefits of a diesel......guess it's a good conversation piece though when around the big boys.
Angry drivers with bad attitudes and a 4,000 lb weapon = DISASTER
I just move over & get out of their way,,, That way I'll live to see another day,,,,
Wow, do I ever with you! I'm at a point where I am not that much in a hurry anymore. I particularly try to stay out of rush hours if I can adjust my times (in honor of those who go to/from a job every day), and, when I am on the road I pick the lane where I can do the speed limit, wave on those who need to go faster.
The real difference in my driving the last few years is a seriously higher level of defensive driving, particularly looking out for "distracted" drivers. When they weave in and out of lanes, greatly vary speeds a lot below the actual limit, I will slow down even more so that I have clear sight on them. I won't try to get around them for fear they'll end up behind me, unless I can predict I'll catch a light that will leave them stopped by a whole cycle.
I get tailgated significantly more in my GS than I do in my other 2 vehicles. My hypothesis is that people assume I'm going to be driving faster because of the car and, by nature of that hypothesis, will get pulled over first if I am. Being in a bright orange sports car with aggressive sounding exhaust I'm not going to increase my chances of getting stopped by speeding, so 5 over or less it is.

Same here. I have no problem with someone wanting to drive faster than I am going. If I'm stuck in a lane because of traffic, I just adjust my following distance to compensate for how close the clown behind me is following.

The kind of people that drive big diesel pickups don't pull over for others to pass... that would be something a b!tch would do.

Lack of understanding of passing lane etiquette isn't really the fault of the drivers. We in the states do a **** poor job of educating / enforcing this. In some states it's not even a moving violation, merely suggested.

Exactly. Before buying my Silverado 1500 I asked around most of my truck friends and was surprised at how many recommended a full blown 2500 or 3500 without any information about my use case. Would I plan on towing? If so, how much weight? How often? Etc. It's men acting like boys beating their chest and measuring up against the next guy. This shows in their driving as well.
Hmmm, I haven't run across many folks willing to keep up, so ummm, no tailgating problem at all. hahaha
Haha! Yeah usually after a few minutes of this and I've had enough a couple of blip blip downshifts and take off. Come to think of it... maybe this is why they're tailgating to begin with! They want to see you unleash the beast

No, I'd say the guy who went out of his way to tailgate me specifically was the person who instigated it. I just did what I could to get away from him. And when I did.....yep, here he comes to tailgate more. Wow, blaming the victim. Talk about oblivious.
