LOL... ok big guy...
You can spend whatever your wallet will stand on custom IRS parts for your ride... When something breaks, and it will, get out that wallet, because it'll be really expensive to fix. I have less in my entire chassis & drive-train than you have in that IRS setup. I've got tons more adjust-ability and it'll handle 2500hp or so. Plus, when I break something, it's not gonna kill my wallet to fix.
All that said, I'm glad you're happy with your ride and hope you have fun with it!
Thanks for the reply, This confirms all I've heard as well about the 5.3. Could you link me to the drop in rod/piston you were talking about from Summit?
Would all of this apply to a LS3 bottom end as well? I see you picked up some Molnar rods and a crank. I was going to choose those as well for when i wanted to build the LS3 bottom end. How much did those set you back?
I've never seen the appeal of the bigger CI builds, most of the time they underperform for the money spent.
Did a quick search and i might have been mistaken. Couldn't find anything that said "Drop-in". Either way, their pistons and rods are about $300 cheaper than something like a Wiseco and Callies rod combo.
I believe I paid $750ish for the crank and $700 for the rods. You can find the rods slightly cheaper. The only place that had them in stock at the time was a few bucks higher than other places.
Ordered a bunch of wiring stuff. Went with TXL wire this time and some nice connectors and sheathing. Last time I used cheap Amazon wire. Wanted to do a cleaner job this time.
i legit just wanted to see how this conversion was done.i have never seen or even heard of any c6 with an engine mounted powerglide or turbo 400...and solid rear axles....these things where on point with the op original post.i apologize im fairly new on here and to be honest not alot of freindly people!! back to lurking lol

I didn't think your last wiring job was bad at all. But I agree, every time I do something I think of a better way as soon as I'm done.

I dig it, factory dash has some weight to it even when just a shell. I mounted my switch panel to the cage dash bar but the carbon plate is slick. I see you went ham on the doors as well, its amazing what all that crap weighs. I ground off all those little studs and covered the shifter hole as well, I welded a plate across it and tapped holes into it to mount my shifter.
This is my office, sparse but funtional. The Jegs harnesses are made by RJS Racing if looking to save a few bucks (especially on something that "expires").

looks pretty much full race car...what does she run at the track at the lighter weight?
buy a c5, spend an @$$ load "making" it a drag car
OR
go buy a used drag car for less than the cost of a PG swap and have fun with it
I wish I hung onto my old 80 BB flying toilet vette
chassis was built to the hilt. Bought it for 20k after a fresh chassis build, and sold the thing for 17k
c5 is a great car, but as soon as I see the big buck builds my wallet curls up an runs away!!!
1000 seems to work pretty good, maybe push that a bit, but hook much more than that and you need to upgrade the drivetrain quite a bit or get used to jersey walls.
I do like living vicariously through the fold of others though!! If I had it, I'd probably do much the same!!
I decided it was more fun to have 3 cool vettes that I use often, than the drag car that I often failed to use enough!!

Awesome man, yeah. I gutted everything out of the dash and it still weighed a good bit. I actually found a company overseas that makes a bunch of carbon parts (exterior/interior) but after shipping, the price is pretty crazy. I'll see how this cover comes out all said and done. I still have the dash if I don't like it.
Torn on seats but may just end up with some Kirkeys. Finally sat in some the other day and they weren't bad actually. What size are yours?
I'm going to cut out some lexan door windows and keep the stock window rails in the car. Just incase I ever get caught out in the rain. Which seems to happen to me a lot, lol.

Definitely to each their own. I really enjoy the build process. You learn new things and ways to improve each time. This will likely be the last time I do this..... lol.
Once I finally sell the drivetrain parts I removed from the car, I'll have about $500 in the roller. Not a bad start, IMO. Better than buying a $30k car and then going full race car with it.
