Here is another entry for the "showroom stock" C6Z06.
Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, Maryland. Sunday, October 8th. Witnessed by forum member waynet.
C6Z bone stock on stock tires, two passes, here are the splits.
DA was 1250 feet, as measured on my TAG weather station.
60'........1.848
330'......4.905
660'......7.370 @ 101.38
1000'.....9.470
1320'...11.244 @ 127.03
Two hour later, a second pass. DA at 1575 feet. The splits were:
60'........1.830
330'......4.915
660'......7.381 @ 101.31
1000'.....9.484
1320'...11.264 @ 126.91
Rear tires were set to 26 psi hot, adjusted in the staging lanes before each pass (psi will elevate in tires facing the sun). Fronts were at 42 psi.
Kept the coolant temp below 195. Launch rpm was 3100-3200, with a fast clutch release, followed by a progressive throttle squeeze. Throttle was on the floor at about 20-25 feet off the line. I had heated the tires with a burnout to first smoke. And then staged immediately.
These times will improve with improved driving under better conditions.
I give you credit, you have really got the driving dialed in.
I watched a NEW Z06 run a 12.01@123.7 on 10/7 at E-town on a 2.01 60'.
I watched him run a 12.06 also.
The guy was a good driver, just has not snapped the 11s yet.
I do expect that you will run some 11 teens and maybe 11.0s if the conditions are perfect.
I also don't expect anyone to come closer than 0.2-0.3 of your times in a STOCK Z.
You put alot of time in to knowing your car and conditions
So, when are you gonna do minor mods and run a 10.9?

No mods in my future, Howard. I'm a stock guy attempting to whittle away on the ET via the driver mod. I written often that it takes 30-50 passes to get dialed-in to any platform. That's especially true with the C6, due to the complexity (smartness) of the ECU/PCM and the toll of TM. I'm at 38 passes, 10 on stock tires and 28 on DRs. I'm still learning small things that make a difference.
Ranger -
Very nice!

Amazing numbers once again Ranger, 11.2s bone stock!
When discussing the C6 Z06 with the many 'car people' that I hang around with I regularly quote your times (both stock tire and DR) and I had the 11.31 and 11.20 memorized, now I have to relearn your ETs again!
Good job and congrats again.

Hehe, that's funny, because when I talk to people about how I want an A6/C6, I'm always referencing your times to them!
I know, but would you rather run a 11.9@115 or a 12.2@120
On the highway the higher trapping manual would see an advantage,
Howard
From a roll you are correct, the manual will win. But in your example, I'd take the quicker 11.9 @ 115 from a dead stop. In your example, that car was .3 seconds ahead at the end of the quarter mile. At 115 mph, that's 50 feet. With the 5 mph advantage, the car that is behind will take another 7 seconds to catch up. There aren't many places on the street that you could stay WOT for a total of 19 seconds.

I wish Ranger could get his hands on a regular c6 to see what it can do.
After next Tuesday (I'll have my headers on by then) we can meet up at ATCO or E-town.
You think Ranger will let me make a pass in his Z?
Howard
That would be the only way to do it. Ranger should be curious about what times he could run in a C6 through the 1/4. The quickest stock
C6 is 12.23 so far. The average Z is trucking around 11.90's I believe and the average good launch C6 is around 12.6. Ranger's last pass was 11.24, so take about .60 from the average Z, he would probably be around 12.00's with the C6 given his exceptional driving ability. I would be amazed to see a stock C6 break into the 11.90's. This would be a good challenge for Ranger. Having said that, I believe Ranger knows the real capability of the C6.
