I ran 11.49 @125.4mph in z-51, 6 spd, run-flat shod, convertible at Richmond during the Carolina Auto Masters challenge on 2/27/07. The car has a custom cam, tune, and exhaust done by Carolina Auto Masters in Durham, NC. Those guys rock!!

Different mods four days apart. On stock tires?
Please post the slips. You mentioned in another thread with pictures from the Richmond event that one showed your car. Please post a link to this thread and identify the car.
Very unusual to run the ETs in your post on stock tires, particularly on a day with temps in the mid-40s.
I had the dates mixed up, sorry, the actual times were 11.491 @ 125.62 on Saturday February 14th. The 60' was 1.82 in the left lane at Richmond during the Challenge. The 1/8 was 7.42 at 96.1. I have a video of the run and will gladly email it to those who seem to doubt or you can call Jeff Creech at Carolina Auto Masters for verification. The cam is a secret to even myself. I'm sure Jeff will hook anyone up who wants to know for a nominal price. The car makes in excess of 462 RWHP with the current mods. Happy racing, Kevin from Asheville
Better than most stock Z06's. Not knocking your performance but it appears that you must have had an exceptional 60's to get that kind of number.
The 60' was 1.82 in the left lane at Richmond on the Saturday of the challenge, I believe it was the 24th. It was very cold so I was pleasently suprised. The car ran the 8th in 7.42 at 96.1 and the 1/4 was actually 11.491 at 125.62. I hadn't looked at the time slip lately and I posted some numbers that apparently some don't believe. The cam is actually a secret to me, I simply told Jeff at Carolina to give me all I could stand and still be able to drive it. You're more than welcome to call him for advice. The car makes 462 RWHP with the current mods. I'm very pleased considering it's a vert. I do have a video of the run if you are interested. Have a good day, Kevin
CAM is great. I hit 12.05 awhile back on just headers, mild cam and tune from them on run flats and it was < 47degrees that day, so the tires were like glass. I'm hoping for mid 11's next time at Rockingham,I have a FAST installed now, but there must be something about that VA track, I'm always hearing low numbers from there, I may have to go give it a try...you got directions?
BTW, I'm planning on hitting Rockingham again on April13th (nitetime races) if you're interested, I'd like to meet ya there.
I wish I knew the specs myself, you're the fourth or fifth person to aske. It's actually a secret to me. I told Jeff at Carolina to give me all I could stand to drive and thats what I got. The car makes 462 RWHP with the current mods. I may actually be at the Rock that weekend if I'm not busy with the Air Force Reserve. It's a red 06 vert, NC Plates GOODBYE! Look me up if you get time, Kevin

I dont know why someone would not believe you, my car only makes 366 to the wheels and runs 11.80's....
Wiht a good sixty, traction and your power you should be in the high 10's.

I don't doubt his times in the least, I was at CAM the day after their runs and Jeff was happy as all that his tuned cars did so well in VA. I do doubt, however, with his current set up, your estimate of high 10's. He had an exceptional 60ft with runflats(1.8s) and obviously the track was well prepped or those numbers wouldn't be possible on rfs. It takes something significant to drop 1/2 a second once you are in the 11's already. His car is dynoing about what new Z06s are and his car is a bit heavier. With most new Zs running low-mid 11's at best(Ranger's excluded...you're too good ), he may have another tenth or so with more seat time and maybe 2-3 tenths with drs. He already has some great numbers, though and most of us would be happy to have 'em. Good job!

Sorry Kevin, now you're talking. With 462 rwhp you're right there and probably some. Must be an awesome cam. But it sounds like it's borderline for daily driving, true?

It's actually not to bad at all. There is some mile cam surge while trying to idle through parking lots at slow speeds and the same problem is you try to use 6th gear below 65mph or so. Other than that it drives about like it did before and it still gets 27-28mpg on the highway. I am very pleased and I highly reccomend CAM. Thanks for the reply

I have thought long and hard about that and based on the best information i have available I think the car would be in the very low 11's but the 10's may be out of reach right now. I have already gotten bored with this setup an am considering a maggie and a new cam to up the antie a little more! Happy Racing!!

If my car they way it is now with 100 more rear wheel did not go high 10's I would be very dissapointed. Again with traction.
Iam not positive of this but I think I would be right there.
My big problem now is do I do the heads and cam and go for 450-500 rear wheel or do I just enjoy my car for another year or two and get the used C6 Z that I have been planning.....
Anyway you have some great times with your combo on street tires, would love to see you run some sticky tires. If your pulling 1.8 sixties now and get some sticky tires and go 1.6 sixties you would drop about 3 tenths from your ET. Iam pulling low 1.7 sixties so 1.6's should not be too hard for your power.

Got to be the fastest Corvette on run flats, your car must pull like a freight train up top to post those numbers
BTW taking our bi annual Corvette trip to Palm Coast I will catch up posting times on the 18th

Those are awesome results for cam only! I'd love to see the dyno graph if you could post up. I've been thinking of going cam only but was thinking I'd be satisfied with 430/410 cam only. I might contact CAM for this "secret grind".
You obviously can drive if you get 1.8's on runflats. But I agree with you, getting 10's even on DR's will be a challenge. My buddy Retrotech who is "Ranger-south" - years of experience and a desire to help all of us in our Corvette Challenge, has 440 rwhp h/c C5 Z06 and a best of 11.19, best 1.56 (gets 1.5's a lot) best 126 and even he can't get it all together to get a 10. No. 1, it's tough to try w/o getting the boot so you can't practice, and No. 2, going from 12.x to 11.x is pretty easy but taking it from 11.x to 10.9 and maintaining a street car, without breaking things, is very hard. There are ton of 550+ FI cars running 11's. Cracking a 10 in a manual is tough.
Here's my buddy's thread on a previous best with some launch tips for those interested:
Wa$nt Me...I gotta give you a I don't think I've ever seen that kinda MPH from the mods you have...crazy fast. To compare, a 03 Z06 with a procharger, meth injection,MT slicks, heads and cam ran 124mph and some change against me .I think they need to make 1/2 mile drag strips for cars like ours that really open up after the 1/8th of a mile.

You've got that right brother!! A few of us are trying to rent the Maxton, NC airport for some top speed runs in the future. Currently the East Coast Timing Association has their land speed trials there quarterly but they limit your speed if you don't have a roll cage in the car and specific tires, etc. We are currently looking for the insurance policy the airport requires so we can let it all hang out. I am very pleased with my car but I want to "legally" see how fast it will go. My goal all along was to be as quick or quicker than an Z-06 and be able to drop the top. That's the cool thing about my car, nobody expects a convertible to be so fast!

Here are the pictures from the challenge. My car is the red vert #36 just above the yellow vert in the second set of pics. As you can see I had it dialed in at 11.9 because I didn't get a good qualifying pass due to some wrecking going on the in the lane beside me so I had no idea what to dial in at.

Here is the picture thread from the meet. My car is number 36, the red convertible above the yellow vert dialed in at 11.9. I broke out because I did not get a clean qualifying pass due to some wrecking going on in the lane beside me in the first pass and a slick lane after someone dropped a tranny in the second. I'll know better next time!!
