I have a 2010 C6 and originally had this problem in September 2011. Now, it's happened again (July 19, 2013) and it's starting to shake my confidence in this car. What happened - started car; ran rough and Service Traction System appeared; few seconds later, Service Active Handling System appeared. A few moments later, these messages kept alternating on the screen. When I put the car in gear to leave for home, the Check Engine Light came on. After a minute or so, it would go off, come on, go off, come on, etc. Then, after driving a few miles, the Tire Pressure icon lit. Checked tire pressure on the DIC, and as suspected, RF XXX appeared. Back in 2011, the dealer replaced a plug and wire for cylinder #2 and relearned the RF TPMS. Although I keep getting false readings for the RF at least once a week, had no further problems until the 19th. Is there a permanent solution for this problem? Not able to go to the dealer until early August....am I looking at an expensive fix? (Was covered under the warranty in 2011.) Has really started to sour me on this car - afraid to take it on long trips...anyone know if GM is working on a solution? Will get rid of the car if it keeps on happening. Thanks for any help or insight. BTW, the car is a base coupe, 6M with only the NPP exhaust as an option.

Any luck with this? Thanks for taking the initiative. I contacted the listed personnel about my experience.
This 2005 C6 problem was passed on to me by the previous owner. Apparently he gave up and passed the problem on to me after eleven months when I purchased it from him. After five years of fighting with the dealer I called GM. They sent me back to the dealer, another $150 to look at the car, called GM from the service booth and low and behold they replaced the wiring in the steering column, no additional cost. It seems to be working okay now.
Referring to Post #601, I got my car back from the dealership today. To recap, had Service Traction System; Service Active Handling System; Check Engine light; and, TPMS RFXXX...the dealer said that these problems were due to misfires in the #s 1, 2 and 3 cylinders. According to a service bulletin (shown as Doc # 3282794, on the bill) loose plug wires caused all of the above messages. All plug wires were replaced ($134.72 for wiring kit; $250.00 labor and $26.94 sales tax. Total bill - $411.66) and the tech couldn't duplicate the TPMS RFXXX readings. Drove home and all seemed OK. Anyone have any comments regarding this fix? Also, thought that plug wires were part of the emissions warranty (may have misread manual on that one) and shouldn't have been paid for...but, who knows? Has anyone else had this service performed to eliminate the Service Active Handling problem?
Okay, I got the dreaded SAH message in the DIC this morning. I have a 12 GS M6 with 2,300 miles on the odo. It also has the telescoping steering wheel.
Was cruising on the highway at 65MPH and the SAH message just popped up. No brake locked up, and no other error message appeared. Stopped to get gas and with the ignition cycle the SAH message disappeared and has not come back since.
This does not sound like the dangerous SAH problem being experienced by so many others. I have read most of this thread and I saw several queries about whether the SAH problem exists in 12 and 13 model years, but haven't seen an answer. Anybody know?
I had a computer fail on a C5 that resulted in SAH Service Traction Control messages, and that was fixed by replacing the entire computer module.
I'll take the car to the dealer as this is all under warranty anyway, but if anyone has any thoughts as to what might be involved, I'd appreciate it.

I'm glad that everything seems to have been resolved for you after your last visit, KayJay. Let us know if anything changes! We're here to help.
I would have bashed cars next to me in my 2006 c-6 because even though it had brand new tires, making a left turn a little too fast - maybe 30 mph ... cause the back tail to spin. I can tell you that in the same situation our PRIUS had the light go on and the traction and it never moved out of the lane.
My husband's answer? Well his Prius had tires issues. Crap. This can get you killed, or worse!!! I just saw this now but I have complained about it for years! He has it waranteed, but doesn'r give a rat's behind.
I came here because now my shifter is sticking in park, and they supposedly replaced the whole unit - I had to video it before they believed me. It went right in the day I picked it up. It is warranteed until 2015, and it turned 7 today. It has 28k on it.
Help, anyone?
And I actually thought about a Stingray in 6-8 years...lol
My form to NHTSA
Usually after initial start and during low speed drive and occasionally on highway speed the Service active Handling message came on the dash. Sometimes i could just shut the motor off and restart it would remove the message. After a few days it began warning more frequent and took longer for the message to correct itself.
On 3/26/2013... I had the vehicle serviced, new tires and the warning message looked at by my local Chevrolet dealer and the following is what they reported and assumed the needed repair.:
3/27/2013 44876 checked DTCS found C0710 Performed Bulletin 06-02-35-002B and installed "clip" in steering wheel position sensor and cleared codes and test drove no further repair. Cost for repair was $107.63 (clip was $2.63)
I have not had any issue since repair made but have heard others complain about this same issue. Steering to me would be a safety issue and a $3 clip cured the problem...
Anybody in the Dallas area had this problem and had luck with a dealership fixing it? Just had the Service Active Handling System display on the DIC on my 2007. Came on, went off the next time I started it and been off since.
Sarah, you side stepped both of KayJay's questions. Does GM actually have an answer to this on going problem? If they do, they seem to be keeping it a secret.

Hi Keith,
Unfortunately Sarah and I are not technicians. We are not able to provide technical advice online. The notification for Service Active Handling could have multiple causes for different years and models. If you are experiencing this concern we can run your VIN for any open service announcements.
KayJay If you would please PM me with your VIN I would be more than happy to see if any of your parts should have been covered under warranty. Sorry that we missed that portion of your post.

Kelly - here's some free non technical advice - fire the person who is supposed to check the wires running to the coilpacks. This person is causing untold problems. How many times (innumerable) do we have to read about rotten quality control on this specific issue? My 2013 GS has been to two dealers to have this problem resolved. I know cars are complex, but when GM are clearly aware of this issue this is ambivalence at best and downright negligence at worst. I assume the owners of Americas Sportscar will be afforded a non-canned answer? Ie GM is actually going to do something?
Eagerly awaiting your reply.

We have been active on this thread and helping different members of the with this concern. Everything is documented in our system and monitored. The appropriate departments are aware of each of the concerns that affect multiple vehicles. (unfortunately that sounded like a canned reply, sorry but it is the truth)
Since you have had the SAH message 2x's do you want me to start a case for you? Your repairs and concerns will be documented in one location.
When you say "Ie GM is actually going to do something" what do you mean? What do you want me to do? I always want to help and try to help everyone on these forums so please let me know. Thanks,

Thanks for the response Kelly - appreciated. My question is more thetorical than anything - I have seen a multitude of topics revolving around these wires; I would think if an issue is pervasive and potentially a liability that the powers that be at GM would issue a TSB and also internally review the QC process. Now I would be a raving lunatic to expect any company to comment specifically on internal procedures as they are none of my business, however an old "we are aware and have addressed going forward" kind of response (only if true) would be comforting - remember we are fanatics and may be buying the C7 / C8 etc
I will not bore you further with my coil issues as that is the past but I would like to believe that our concerns are constructively relayed back at Bowling Green in an effort to improve quality.
I come from a family of fanatics and am one myself, I understand!
You are correct in that I cannot share internal procedures on the forums. I do document everything into our system and it is being monitored for concerns like this with 31 pages of thread.
Part of the reason GM has pushed so hard to have a large social media department is to be able to get y'all more involved. I think its awesome I am here on this forum to help where I can!
Please keep me on my toes like you have been, if you see something let me know!
This just stared happening to me, thankfully I wasn't at speed on a highway. making a left turn into a parking spots or a left turn off the highway, the left front brake applied on it's own, after that once the car was straight it still applied as I pushed the gas pedal. scary!!!
Forgot to add my vin# to my previous post. It's a 2005 1G1YY24U255111737. and like the other posts I got a service active handling system message as the left brake applied on its own
