so I got rid of the 03 z06, and purchased a 2006 vette, the 2nd day of driving I turned to the right and the right front brake locked up. I called gm to report the problem and ask about the recall. they said my car wasn't covered buy it. I proceeded to tell them that I was a die hard gm fan and owned a 13 z71 and 10 escalade and that they needed to fix the problem. well they said someone would call me back, and when he did I was driving the vette, and while I was explaining the problem the front wheel locked up and I was almost rear ended, by a expedition. after the cussing over the situation and the gm rep hearing it all and my girlfriend screaming cause we almost had a wreck, he prompted me to take the car to the dealer. I will be dropping it off tomorrow. wish me luck

Ok, so I just got my car back. They put the comb in and the active handling message went away, but the brake lights stayed on. So they replaced the pedal sensor and the sensor read good but they could not program it because the Body Control Module was bad too. They replaced that as well and the car is 100% again......my bank account is $660 poorer though....looks like the car gets super but I live on dollar menu for a few weeks! lol To think, if I could have diagnosed it myself I could have done the work too for half the cost.......

BUT:

I got my car back!

I have an 11 GS, last saturday while driving the vett the service active handling light came on.
On Monday I took the vette in for service they said it was the steering column sensor plus they found a squeak in the drivers seat, something to do with the seat motor but they have to special order it.
I finally got a call wednsday and the service guy told me they found something that did not look right with the steering column, so they are going to put a new steering column hopefully I'll get my car Friday.

I just had the "fix" on my 2007, yesterday. I had the "Service Active Handling" light to come on multiple times. I discovered the factory Bulletin, here on CF.

I cycled the telescoping column about 10 times, and the light did not come on for a couple of days. But, I knew it was just a matter of time before the annoyance returned. So, I went to Hendricks Chevrolet of Cary, NC.

The service lady at Hendricks said, "Do you know the bulletin number? Are you telling me you can't pull it up. I, then, found it on my phone, faster that she found it on their computer. They had the part, so it was installed. The initial estimate was $75 but I fussed a little, and the final bill was $47.87. The part was $5.02. She said it wasn't a recall but a bulletin to help the repair folks. I tried to explain the seriousness of this repair. The technician said he examined the connection for corrosion and then, installed the comb. He said the code came up, too indicating the issue.

Report filed.

Just took delivery on a 2013 GS Coupe. Is this an issue that I need to address with the dealer?

Scary stuff. Thanks to the thread starter and all those who have kept the issue awareness alive.

I have had the same parts replaced on my 05, same price range too... And I periodically still get the error. If I pull over and restart the car it goes away and activate handling and traction seem to work correctly. I have had so many computer problems with this vette then any of my older ones it only has 26,000 on it. I now wish I drove it more during the warranty period and maybe some of these problems would have been covered!
I had ordered it as soon as the dealer was able to submit and it was one of the the first 6 month production vehicles.

Hello Kelly J,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Would Chevy reimburse owners who have spent money on the repairs?? For me, I only spent $11 on the part but others on this thread spent more.

Thanks,

Dino

As I said before I crashed mine. the next day the recall showed up in my mailbox. $7000 in damage but they put the comb in. Did not fix the problem. It's happened so often I can now make it happen when I want to. Girlfriend won't even get in it which at times isn't a bad thing. I know what its like at 60mph and its not good. it hasn't happened any faster yet. I've been 175mph. I don't think I would find it fun at that speed. I hope they devote the time to find the real problem because the $10 comb isn't it. What concerns me is mine is a 2006 bought in October 2005 I paid $98,316.00 for it. Ya I wanted it bad. It's 2013, almost 8 years later, and the new ones still do the same thing. I hate to say it but if it was 7 series beamer or some other high end sports car made across the ocean it would have been fixed. 1 more time and California's lemon law might be an argument for a good attorney (if there is such a thing) to make?

Thus far, I have spent > 4000 Euros (!) to cure Service Active Handling / Traction Control System issues ...
Still nothing solved. One major cause - IMHO - is the lousy dealer network in Europe. "Korean" Chevys can be serviced without any problems, Corvettes seem to be too complicated for them. GM needs to do something about this.

Hey ya'll,

Chevrolet treats each case on an individual basis. My suggestion is when you experience these concerns reach out right away so that I can get involved or get you to someone else who maybe able to help. There are never any guarantees unfortunately. If you live out of country please let me know and I can provide you the correct contact information for the Chevrolet Customer Care Team.

Thanks,

Kelly J.

I do, see also post # 594. Do I need to PM you for the correct contact information?
Like said, a Corvette dealer network does virtually not exist in my country, since Kroymans went bankrupt in 2009. The only dealer that I know - I intentionally don't disclose the name here publicly - has insufficient expertise IMO.

I Have an 07... this happens to me when I am making a sharp turn.. or turn into a parking lot with different level gravel.. luckily.. it has never happened during normal driving. I feel like this was an issue I use to have with my old 98 .

I have a 2010 C6 and originally had this problem in September 2011. Now, it's happened again (July 19, 2013) and it's starting to shake my confidence in this car. What happened - started car; ran rough and Service Traction System appeared; few seconds later, Service Active Handling System appeared. A few moments later, these messages kept alternating on the screen. When I put the car in gear to leave for home, the Check Engine Light came on. After a minute or so, it would go off, come on, go off, come on, etc. Then, after driving a few miles, the Tire Pressure icon lit. Checked tire pressure on the DIC, and as suspected, RF XXX appeared. Back in 2011, the dealer replaced a plug and wire for cylinder #2 and relearned the RF TPMS. Although I keep getting false readings for the RF at least once a week, had no further problems until the 19th. Is there a permanent solution for this problem? Not able to go to the dealer until early August....am I looking at an expensive fix? (Was covered under the warranty in 2011.) Has really started to sour me on this car - afraid to take it on long trips...anyone know if GM is working on a solution? Will get rid of the car if it keeps on happening. Thanks for any help or insight. BTW, the car is a base coupe, 6M with only the NPP exhaust as an option.
