Replaced the battery again, due to dbs fault and replaced shifter unlock solenoid, it only had worked part of the time. Trac lock now works fine.
Car is a 2006 c6 6 speed paddle shift auto.
Now g/m, chevy, has really pulled a fast one. They know of dbs concern and now they "fixed" their part by changing the battery to a now 30 month warranty which was a 6 yr warranty. They don't know why or care about having a fix for dbs but now they don't have to spend extra bucks for dead batteries. Was contemplating buying a 2014 vette, but now wonder if 2014's will have the same concern. Sick of having to keep my c6 plugged into trickle charger and having the extra battery replace expense. Cost of all the batteries replaced would have covered a payment! It's like my 36 mo. Loan equaled 37 months of payment.......disgusted. Come on chevy step up to the plate! All the hoopla about installing optima batteries is not a fix either, never mind the higher cost and fit concerns.
Ok..........
Dealer replaced BCM in March and all has been well.....until a month ago I got a message and the old code again....C0161. But no brake light issue.
Then it happened yesterday, and again today.
Here we go again.
C7 was being considered....
not on your life.
So I'll call dealer and have them look again. If they "fix" it I'll know it will likely be short lived.
I've read most posts, but not all. Here is my issue:
06 base, auto... no telescopic steering, etc.
first encounter: Turning into a store i felt what i thought was my antilock activating, just shrugged it off.
Two weeks later: same instance though this time the LF wheel was lock and unlocking.. luckily i was around 5mph
Next encounter: Pulling out onto intersection the left front wheel starts locking and unlocking. It did this for a good 5-7 seconds.
Now, almost every two or three day it does this sometimes for just a split second, sometimes up to 10.
Its like the active handling is activating but without reason. I try to remember to turn the "traction control and active handling off" and it does ok.
Since mine does NOT have the telescopic steering does that elminate the bulletin? Thoughts? Also, the battery goes dead after about 2 days of not driving.. related? This is my third Vette and I'm at the point of just losing money and selling it.

Any help is appreciated.
Sir,
Same thing happened to me - see post # 647 on this thread for my corrective action.
and yours was doing as i described? coming on a slow speed trying to kill you?
Yes, mine did it twice when I was trying to make a sharp left hand turn in a parking lot at about 5 to 10 MPH. After it happened, I called my Mechanic and he installed the little clip some where under the steering wheel and I never had that problem since.
IIRC, somewhere in the middle of this thread, it was determined that it affects both.
There is no permanent fix, as far as I know. The clip method seems to work better than the "wrapping" method. I've had mine wrapped two or three times, and recently clipped. I don't know what people recommend if/when the clip method starts to fail--re clip it?

That's where I'm at. I installed the clip about six months ago, now I'm having the same problem again. I think the solution is to replace the connector entirely, but I'm not sure how difficult that will be to do.
Arrrg...have had my 05 convert for three months now...i have gotten a low speed wheel pulsing/lock up a few times already...with the "service active handling" message...the first time my dashboard message read "service traction system"...either way totally immobilizing the car until i turn off then restart...not sure if my brake lights are activating during this event, i hope so but doubt it since im not pressing the brake pedal....sharp turns/u turns seem to initiate it...i was hoping the comb clip had not been installed, but of course it was...didnt mess with it but i do have a new clip...my code reader shows no trouble codes..of course the dealership service writter seemed very surprised and had never heard of this happening...hmmm...he said he was more than willing to set me an appt...ok ..an intermittant problem with no trouble codes...sounds like an expensive wild goose chase...if i can consistantly recreate the problem then i will think about taking it to the dealership...i wondered why the last owner only had this awsome car for only 18 months...i might have just found out why...not sure whats riskier...random wheel lock up or just driving around with traction system and active handling turned off...(which is one mode past competition mode..,achieved by holding down the tcs button for ten seconds..just in case you didnt know i just learned of this recently...) anyways just wanted to chime in since i suck this forum of info daily...peace.

That sounds like a wheel speed sensor issue. Happened on mine and was able to fix it for "zero" cost. One of the wires on the driver wheel speed sensor has become damaged. A simple repair to the wire and it's been fine since then. Not saying that's your situation, but if you pull the front wheels, you can check it yourself.
Thank you so much for this post! My 07 started doing exhibiting this almost daily upon pulling into my driveway - I have to make a large circle at slow speed to hit my driveway at an angle - and the wheel would lock up and the service AH system would come on! I thought I was going crazy! It has also done it a couple of times when accelerating normally from a dead stop! I will follow your suggestions ASAP. Thanks again!

After becoming a victim of a light speed incident of this failure I decided to do my homework. The information below is not intended to alarm anyone, but please take this thread seriously as your car may be fine, but it may be the life of a fellow Corvette brother you save by taking action.
GM made an "effort" to address the AH/TCS concern by releasing Technical Service Bulletin 06-02-35-002B THE BULLETIN WAS INTENDED TO CORRECT A FRETTING CORROSION PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR CONNECTOR C202. This went from installing a zip tie to now inserting a "clip" to ensure the wire is not frayed or pulled taught.
Example of reported incident:
I recommend any one with any concern with their Electronic Stability Control (Traction Control / Active Handling) system contact the Office of Defect and Investigation (ODI) both informally through the contact link and formally with an official reporting link. Also, for those that have not yet had an issue, but still drive a 2005-2008 model year; it may be in your future interest to also send a letter of concern to the ODI.
As you can see they have only a few limited reports of this incident when this forum alone has twice as many. If this is a systemic engineer problem the number of incidents will only increase as our cars age and wear.
Please be sure to address your concerns to the Engineer currently working on the case, Stephen McHenry stephen.mchenry@dot.gov (202) 366-4883 and the Office Director, Kathleen C DeMeter kathleen.demeter@dot.gov.

Thanks..great heads up...now that i have read the consumer action thread on this issue i am even more scared..found out if you turn the active handling and tcs system off.,,they will automatically
Re-enable if a fault is detected....so there is no hidding from this gremlin...cant wait to file my report and complaint...but i will pull the wheels first chance i get to check those sensor wires...until then i will focus on the connector under the steering column...redo the comb clip and install some kind of wire tie sinch...May God be with us every mile...

I'd just like to be able to get into the computer and completely bypass the active handling and traction control completely. I've gotten along fine for 50+ years. I think I can get by just fine for the remaining years that I will be driving. When GM looks after it on a case by case basis, I see it as them dragging their feet on a serious issue. Brakes and steering are two things that you can't mess with. I can mess up all by myself. I don't need a computer adding to the problem.

Seems pretty dangerous to me, despite your 50+ years experience.
One cannot compare contemporary hi-po cars (without AH and TC) to the old school hi-po cars.
Just my 2 cts.
