If I was to pay to have a cam and head install like this, how many hours should I plan to pay for?

Thanks!

Shops quoted me 2 days and any additional parts + Dyno tune is like
$500.00 more. We are talking about $1,500.00 to swap out the Heads.
I already have A good tune and I can put a PATCH in W HP TUNERS.
I really enjoyed doing it myself although at times it had its moments.
That oil pump reservoir was messy and aggravating and I had to install it twice because of one bolt. I wish there was a way to get the water out of
there. I was going to use A VAC CLEANER. All & ALL even if the thing blows up it will have been worth it considering how much I learned by
doing.
I guess my hourly rate would be about $2.99 / HR. I had to buy all
new tools Metrics big time, Torque wrenches, specialty tools, cleaning
supplys. The last time I swapped Heads was in 1909 but i did full builds
without even knowing what I was doing. Ill fire it up tomorrow or sat
What do you think It will Dyno at ?

Depends on the guy doing the work, maybe 8-10 if they remove the heads and maybe 4-5 if they risk not removing the heads.

that I may work with him on. He said he would help Me reach my goals.

Default Fired up 1:50 pm . Wow, oh oh leak

Fired her up about 10 min ago. Turned for about 5 sec then fired. Sounded
Louder than norm but seen A gas leak at CYL #7 injector. Probably have to pull it. Maybe it didn't seat and should of used grease on the O rings I think. Didn't see any leaks elsewhere nor did the engine have loud tappeting. I love those Yella Terras.

Joe , Can you put grease on those O rings around the fuel injectors. It seems like the one is cockeyed.

yes I've used a little silicone spray with good effect.

A quick search reveals an injector company prefers dish soap.

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/10830310-post7.html

Remember you've got the fuel rail o ring and the manifold o ring make sure both are propery seated and that your oversize washers are properly holding the fuel rails down...I have to tighten mine in a cross pattern and hold the rails down when I do it.

p.s. fuel on the engine (and I've had it more times than I'd care to admit on my Oldsmobiles over the years) scares the heck out of me. Be sure to have a extinguisher handy just in case. Put out quick a fire can be no big deal. I had a buddy's car burn to the ground while he looked for an extinguisher. Be careful buddy.

Joe, Thanks for the tip. It worked like A champ. The dish detergent actes as a lube all slid in nice. This time I did not start the Car . I pulled the START RELAY and only turned on the fuel pump. Still had a small leak at injector #4 . Fixed it. Then I put A Gauge on the shrader valve
and let it sit. So far no leaks. See if it holds Gas Pressure at 60# overnight. I should be able to fire that baby up in the Morning.

You should be fine. Looking forward to the results! Tf heads are probably my next mod.

And I'm eager to hear what Spin's ideas are....

Actually Tomorrow is dyno Day. Got to run it this morning, check for leaks
strange noises, tools left in the engine and rags I might have forgot to take out of the runners. I may do A small Vid today yet.

WOWTook it for a drive this morning. Seemed like it was running slower than before and had sluggishness . CEL was on from the get go. Put the predator on and sure enough " Injector #3 was open. Put injector plug on and WOW the animal came out. Snappy was the word.
This Car is LETHAL now. In second and third wheel spin at partial pedal
and I never had it near to the Floor. The Torque is there instantly. Engine
ran at a cool 190 and no leaks or funny engine noises at least as of yet.
I am super happy about this install although I had my follies it was a tremendous learning experience. I know there is more than 20RWHP but
it feels like I added another 100RWHP/TQ.
