Default You're correct.

HP Tuners has a big warning on those tables that if you enter something that the TAC module doesn't like, you can brick your ECM permanently. I haven't had the ***** to try messing with them, although I really do want to speed it up a bit. I haven't had the nerve to try it though.

This type of box is very very common in the BMW world. A lot of the drive by wire BMW's have a horrible dead spot when you first start to push own the throttle.. so these types of boxes improve that quite a bit.

I'm sure all this is doing is manipulating the signal it receives from the throttle pedal to change the relationship from actual pedal position to what the ECM thinks the pedal position is.

You're correct.

That's the C6 setup, but the C7 is totally different.

Don't mess with the C5 and C6 stuff unless you have experience. Bad things can happen.

The C7 is totally different and likely should not be messed with either as it has an effect on the

engine power and changes spark and fuel as well.

The C7 is much like the way a DURAMAX DIESEL works.

I have messed with those tables a bit now now on an E40 with varying results. The good news is I haven't bricked anything. The bad news is if I change anything more than a few % then I end up getting an ECM Checksum Error ~30 minutes or so into driving it, which I can only assume is it not liking my "adjustments".

So, I've stopped messing with it. I haven't gotten around to trying it on an E38 yet.

Same difference.... With E40 & E38 1% above what the throttle controller expects... P0606 and you're down.

Same thing happens when you try to copy a tune with my CoW BOOSTER! in it.... Touch the pedal..... P0606

E40 is a bit more messy.... The throttle tables change around a lot with the 6 different operating systems

out there..... You have many more chances of getting in trouble with E40.

If you'd like to "experiment" a bit with it, privately PM me and I'll work something out for you so you can tinker.

After several weeks of having this piece, I am still amazed at how well it works.
Is the wiring harness leads long enough to go another few inches and mount the controller in the armrest storage area?

Should be long enough based on memory. I like the ashtray area as it's not used anyway and I could do a quick, clean install without having to pull the console again.

Default deceleration

I was wondering if this changed the deceleration of the engine when letting up on the pedal. I like the way the old carb engines decelerated, more like a prostock car.

I know what you mean, some carb cars would rev up and down quickly and give that "vroom-paaaa" sound I grew up liking. Modern cars seem to hang and rev down more slowly.

In a c5 there were throttle cracker and follower tables that you could adjust to open or close (respectively) the throttle more or less quickly. Not available on the c6 as far as I've seen (though I haven't tuned every model, mostly the older stuff for me). If you adjust the throttle follower to close the throttle too quickly it'll increase the tendency for the car to stall.

I can tell you the cow booster, and I'm guessing the vitesse, WILL make the engine rev up more quickly but I've found that the revs will fall the same as stock, at least with the cow booster and I imagine the vitesse as well as I understand how it works.

If you want the engine to rev up and down more quickly a light flywheel will help. But, you lose some drivability with that, it's harder to take off at low speeds.

You can hear it in this video, if you're in tune to how a c6 revs up mine revs up more quickly but still revs down with a stock slope.

I've had some luck messing with DCFO, coast down timing and min air to make it behave a little differently during decel.

Just installed and went fora quick spin. And I DO mean spin!! Put it in SP5 and noted immediate difference when driving. Put it on SP9 and the car is an ENTIRELY different animal. Came off the line like it was on boost. I swear I have never installed a better mood for the time and effort involved.
