Installed mine today. I put the controller right behind the lever to adjust the tilt of the steering wheel using the double sided tape. I fed the wire between the steering column case and the dash. There is thick rubber weatherstrip like material there and it was super easy to just feed the wire through there. I put the main unit and the excess cable inside the under dash piece that has the three push pins. There was a cable run up in there was was convenient to die wrap everything to.
It came out looking really good. The controller is not very noticeable there, yet I can see it if I need to by just moving my head a few inches to the left. Normally I won't look at it. It's super easy to find and hit either the economy or sport buttons just by feel.
I only took the car out for a half hour, but based on that I ended up in economemy 3 with the A button, and sport 4 with the B button. I like using both those settings, but what's really cool is I can change those to get 17 different choices in seconds. It's a great product. Very satisfied. It's a nice update for my Vette. It's like some of the cars I've rented lately when traveling with different settings like economy.
It tool about 30 minutes to put in. The hardest part for me was trying to find the three holes for the push pins for the dash under piece. When I gave up and just tried to position it and push up where it seemed it was in position I got in on the second try. This was after 10 minutes of hole searching. Someone posted a pic of the cable connector with little yellow arrows of where to pry up on the grey plastic keeper. By following that I had the connector unplugged in 60 seconds. That was a great help.
By the way, I am not very good at things like stereo installation, etc. My plan was just to take a few page printout of the tips you guys gave, and have a stereo shop do it for me. I decided to at least begin the job myself knowing that I could stop at any time and have someone else do it if it was too hard. It isn't.

Could you describe disconnecting the existing wiring harness a bit?
From vid I saw it appears are is a 2 pins/latches to push in?
I too am planning an install after winter storage.
I have one..just no way to tell if I'm hitting 60 any faster.
100% throttle is 100% throttle with any of these devices so it's not going to change your 0-60 time or any other performance measure.
It will make it much easier to heel and toe downshift which is why I got mine years ago. A side benefit is the peppier feel of the car everyone speaks of.
A good way to test this would be for any Vette owner that has this VITESSE Throttle Controller is to go to the track. Run it on the ZERO setting. Then run with setting 7,8 or 9 and then check your times. Lag will slow ya down.
Joe, I understand what you are saying, but if the lag is gone and you get to 100% throttle quicker then wouldn't your times be faster? Like Proud Owner said..Lag will slow you down. Im sure somebody has tested this...
Carvin, disconnecting the cable didn't go exactly as planned. I pried up with a small screwdriver and squeezed the grey connector somewhat, and it popped up and completely off and landed on the floor. The two connectors on the Vitesse are male and female versions of the GM connectors. I found which Vitesse connector the grey keeper and put it on, pushed the connector onto the car firmly, then slid the grey keeper back down.
If you've read all the tips in this thread, once you get in there and start the job the tips will make sense. I didn't entirely understand the tips till I was in there doing it. It will make sense when you're in there. Just be careful and don't pull on the wires like Vitesse warns and you should be fine.
I did not take the bolts that hold the gas peddle to the firewall off like some did. In fact the only tool I used was a small screwdriver for prying up the grey keeper on the cable connector. For me it wasn't hard to access or see once I took off the dash under piece that is held in place by the three pushpins. Find those push pins and pull down on the soft plastic dash under piece at those three spots one at a time. There is a lamp with a wire on the left side of that under piece, but I didn't bother disconnecting it. There was enough slack to just set it aside enough to make access to the connector easy.
The way I mounted everything I didn't have to feed any wire under the carpet at all. Other than 1/4" or so of wire to the right of the controller there is no wire visible. To see that 1/4" of wire you'd pretty much have to have your head lying on the seat.

Most of these cars are traction limited, so you can not put the power down anyway. The FI guys actually ues the ECO settings to lag the throttle even more to help launch the car.

:agree: You cannot go WOT on street tires on the street with or without any throttle modification device/tune. "Throttle lag" is not the limiting factor, traction is.
On the drag strip with heated drag radials, I leave with the accelerator pedal on the floor before I release the clutch. My 0-60 time is 2.6 seconds with our without the cow booster. My 60 foot times did not change with the cow booster as I leave with the car floored.
With a c5 or c6, Accelerator Pedal on the Floor means throttle is wide open (barring any intrusions from traction control, torque management or active handling, which I've tuned out in my car).
In a c7, the accelerator pedal is a suggestion for the throttle blade as the throttle opening is commanded torque based. But I digress.
These devices will not decrease your 0-60 times, 60 foot times, or anything else. They WILL make the car feel peppier and WILL make heel and toe downshifting easier by making the accelerator pedal more responsive.

What was your 1/4 time with those 60' times ?
I have only had mine to the track once, and could not get it to hook for the life of me. Best time was a 12.9 @ 118, but my 60' times were 2.9 and up. It was a cool (50 deg) day and I was on the stock GY's.
Does anyone else have their Vitesse controller stay on even when the car is shut off? I would have thought this unit would shut down when you turn the car off. I would think a couple of LEDs would not be a big deal as far as battery draw, but over an extended time, might be.
