Thanks! I use VHT Flameproof, works well on turbo housings, exhaust, etc.. I like VHT Wrinkle Plus for all the other stuff like valve covers, intake, etc.

Wow, so just spray can stuff?

It looks so good, I figured it must have been some sort of Cerekote product or something like that.

Yup good ole rattle can, it cures pretty good with a couple heat cycles. I've been using it on turbos for years so the turbine doesn't get all rusted looking.

Last drive of the year, for a good cause! Friends shop had a Toys for Tots car event, had a good turnout and lots of donations.

Little update! I wanted a double adjustable up front but it seemed like most if not all available options allowed the upper a arm to hit the coil spring on full droop. I know some people installed limiting straps to stop that problem, but that limits wheel travel which isn't ideal. I decided to ditch the OEM upper mount and weld on my own shock mount to the frame. Now I can use the full down travel of the suspension with plenty of clearance, using 200lb front springs and the adjustments are easy to reach.

And a larger update! After two years I decided to change things up out back as well. My original 4 link setup was installed around the factory frame rails, which limited things a bit and turns out they were really eff'n heavy!! So I cut out the whole back section of the car and started over. Lots more left to go, but I think I'm off to a good start for only working on it the last 2 evenings. So much more room to work, it'll be a good bit lighter, have more wheel travel, etc...

Looking good!

The only reason I’m leaving my rear frame rails in is because some classes require it. I don’t want to limit where I can run.

Thanks! I totally get that for a class car, I'm just a street car doing street car things I dont think a twin turbo 2100lb car is legal for anything, but its fun!

All Steel, All Glass N/T class around these parts has no min weight. Depending on the turbos, you might fit..

I’ve thought about running in it so I don’t have to add 400lbs for Ultra Street.

How does the all steel thing work for vettes that never had steel? I have a lexan windshield since I broke the stock one, tempted to get a lexan hatch window but havent broken that one yet. The no time stuff never seemed to spark my interest, but Baileys new shorter drag week format does seem like it could be fun.

Adding 400lbs doesn't seem fun, did you figure out a way to do that? I've seen no prep guys add 400-500lbs on the rear, seems like most use gym plate style weights.

I have not attempted to add any weight. As a result, I will not be racing in Ultra Street.

ASAG is factory panels and lexan windshield is allowed. I’ll likely hit that up here at Atco.

Sick Week just looks like so much fun, as do all the drag and drive type events. Did you see that DragWeek is coming to your neck of the woods? Well, a little south of you, but closer to you than to me…

Maybe someday I’ll put a radiator in my car and put it on the street.

I'm still rocking the OEM frame rail as well for the same reason as Pete. I think what Pete is alluding too, in the "all steel and glass" is most classes that we would qualify for is OEM roof and qtr panels (shoot some even require carpeting).. which in my book could be a major fire hazard.. As for weight, (sanctioned events) most require a weight box (nostalgia racing). Most get creative. Where they have a frame for mounting a gas tank in the trunk make the frame out of heavy gauge material, or mount heavy bars to the frame. Most of todays heads up classes (LDR, PRO 275, X275, etc.) will let you distribute that weight on all four corners as long as it's secularly fastened down. And yes some use the weights as you describe. One of the classes I run in NMCA is Open Comp. I've seen people put 100lbs of sandbags in their car to slow it down a 10th as OC adds a 10th to your fastest qualifying run (NMCA) and that will be your index (other people will just hit their brakes before the stripe). Every 100lbs will knock a 10th off your car is the theory. I ran OC at No Mercy last Year and that wasn't their practice. That's one class your car would qualify though is OC. Some have restrictions on how slow/fast you can run, but no restrictions on your car.

Been off the forum awhile but your new turbo system is the bomb! Looks awesome as hell!

Getting ready for the season.. Looking to put a number "1" on my car this year!!

Not really AWOL…. Just way behind….

taking the car to Fark’s on 3/15 for scaling and alignment.

3/18 is the date with the chassis certification guy.

may rent the track on 3/20 to do some shake down stuff.
