Hope to see it in person at Barrett Jackson this weekend.
Im sure it will be a great track car but still looks too busy / gadgety if that is a word, maybe if the reveal car didnt have all the black pieces added to it!
Sure has some Ferrari and Viper (the shoe) feel to it. Better have a Z06 version!
My first impression is that the car needs to be black. There are way too many styling distractions on the car. It gives is a Japanese look to me. The basic shape looks good, and the back looks better than I expected - especially given that the lower part is blacked out - that is the one thing that is not over done by being black.
Wonder if that will be a new GM accessory? Body colored vents for $100 each.
This is the ugliest Corvette since the 1997 C5. The current C6 is the best Corvettes since the 1963-1967 Stingrays. The rear of this car is the worst part of the car but in general it looks like a C6 that was customized by people with no sense of design or taste.
The best comment so far, "designed by people with no sense of taste". Truly great design is extremely rare and this certainly isn't it. But by how far did they miss? Will the Camaro have its own chapter in design textbooks? The C7 probably won't, either.
love the front but that rear end....i'm just not sure about
Something is wrong with the rear window its to rectangular looking it should taper to the rear more. I like the fact its 60% stiffer but the styling leaves me cold. There simply isn't enough traditional Corvette styling in it. The rear also looks chopped off and the tail lamps scream Camaro even more than I thought.
I like it ... I think. Really need to see it to decide.
Probably looking at a 2015/2016 model. With so many new parts it will probably go through a model year or two of teething issues. And the second model year always has improvements that didn't make the cut for the first year.
My wife really likes the DSOM color on our C6. I hope they offer more colors then the standard white, black, red, silver, and blue.
At this time, I have likes and dislikes. I guess I'll just have to wait to see one in person to make a decision. Maybe it will grow on us. There have been other years in which I didn't like at first but finally grew to like. I think price will be a big deal. Other thing is...ARE they gonna come out with a Z next year and what kind of hp. Still a waiting game for me. I think I will keep my Z06 for the time being.
I like what I see no doubt and imagine its more impressive in person.
My only issue is that I NEVER see myself using any production year corvette as a daily driver.
Not overly impressed. Front end looks very similar to recently released Viper, lot of gimmicky stuff on the body, rear end is a bit camaroesque and I don't like the high rear black valence (sp?), would almost necessitate buying a black car to tone down the ricey aspects. The weight loss is modest and estimated power is line with GM's typical minor power increases for the base from one generation to the next. I can readily identify the stylistic gimmicks that were used in an attempt to lure a younger buyer. Biggest improvements are clearly in the interior.
I have owned 9 Vettes, do not currently see the need to replace my '10 Z06, currently weighing in at about 3050 lbs and over 600 emission legal h/p. I will have more interest in the C7 Z models, which will present more of a performance challenge to what I have now. Sure the LT4 will be a S/C implementation, with a hopefully more attaractive exterior.
I predict it will be a hot seller for a very few months, but will quickly become dated and just another member of the class of these cars reaching out for 40-50 something "toy"dollars. This group is getting ever more competitive with greatly improved mustangs, impending intro of Jag F type, greatly improved P-car Caymen/Boxster models.
The release was anti-climatic because it didn't really provide much more info than we have already had for quite some time.
Sorry guys, but the rear end just does not do it for me. I think the Aztek engineers got hold of that rear end. I'll be keeping my C6 for now. Maybe it will grow on me. Definitely not love at first sight like the C5 and C6.
