This is correct however you also need to create an OnStar account AFTER your dealer activates OnStar in your car.
Doc is correct. I tried creating my OnStar account first and that didn't work. I had to have the dealer activate it before it would work. The exception to that is if I could have got on the lot and pushed the blue OnStar button. Obviously that was impossible.
You can use GM Chat online to check order number status, and if you want to enable on-star you can speak to your dealer and they can get your account setup. Then you just download the on-star app on your phone to track it via location.
Per what Dave @ Kerbeck said in this or another thread. Chevy Chat doesn't get the same status codes as your dealer. If you want the real data, contact your dealer.
I would have to agree with you about the problem I have a corvette that was produced last week with carbon flash that has no invoice of today and we had one produced this week without that has no invoice. Thanks for the insight on this problem it was a big help.

Last week, when prices were finally integrated into the GM Ordering System, the option TTV (black mirrors and spoilers) was showing $0 instead of $100. I had contacted GM then and they put the fix in a few days later.
Fast forward to today. We get invoices. Some, but not all but it's no big deal since I was told to expect it.
Then we get a load of cars in today and, lo and behold, many have window stickers! Then I notice that some have window stickers even though they don't have invoices.
That's when I notice that the 4 I have with window stickers and no invoices all have the TTV option. When I look at the window sticker, the MSRP is off by $100 and there is no list of the TTV option.
So, my guess is that the original invoices and window stickers for the cars with TTV had to recycle through the system and that's why there is a delay!
This is not an official announcement from GM, it's only my guess. However, I'm willing to bet that everyone out there who is saying they don't have an invoice yet probably has the TTV. Elementary!
I will now go put on my deer stalker cap and smoke my pipe.

Which is an example of what I (an outside observer) have posted many times on this and other forums. I can not prove it, but observation over an extended period of time tells me this is what is going on.
Your dealer has access to closer to real time happenings and Chevy Chat access is at least a day and sometimes more behind.
Just a quick question.. My car is in transit, but if I was to have the dealer activate Onstar, and I pinged the car every day or so, would it kill the battery by the time I got it?

Well...I am sure it is just a small trickle of power to trigger the on-star request, and I have probably done it about 50-1000 times so far. I can at least comment once it arrived if the battery was dead
Well, On-star apparently has a max amount of times you can check your GPS location in a 24 hour period. I exceeded it...they suspended my ability to look up via GPS for 24 hours. I guess time to do something productive
