Thanks! I'll have to research that a little so it doesn't look like I finger painted it.
Be aware that if you can't bake the paint onon it's going to chip… It's just in the position to do so. I painted my front retainer bar with three coats of clear , two base paint, within six months the rocks took its toll. If you paint with std car paint, it will chip.
This is a little different approach and somewhat more costly but very effective. Bought 4 sets of Ramble RV leveling blocks. I use my floor jack under my snap in jack pads and slide each stack of blocks under the correct suspension point. This method gets the car up far enough for all kinds of work and is very solid. I have jack stands, but I really like the blocks better because they have a larger weight bearing surface and slide easily to the correct locations.
I really love how understated this thing is - and I did recently discover that this is stock on the z06s without the z07 package. Very cool, nice and subtle. love how it is matte black - makes it seem more like a race car and less like a garage queen.
I could care less if I trash it, it cost me 103 shipped. How much does 10 quarts of synthetic cost?
I'll post pics, er maybe start another "idiot" thread, as I love debating.

I did the same thing painting my splitter, and it looked awesome. 11,000 miles later it looks like it took a shotgun blast LOL. Unless you cover it with plastic, it will chip if you drive the freeway a lot like I do. If it bugs me too much I'll just hit it with some plasti-dip, or replace it when it gets too beat up.

I've already scraped mine a couple times. Will replace it when it starts looking bad. I haven't figured out how to use the same holes when I install the replacement. Am I missing something obvious?
I thought the unpainted splitter just wasn't black enough so I painted mine flat black before I installed it. So far it has no marks (knock on wood) on it. I figure if it gets some, flat black should be very easy to touch up.

anyone know hard it would be to buy 3m clearbra, or expel and cover it yourself? I think you can get small strips on the cheap.. I'm just concerned about the angels and texture, not sure if it is friendly to a fancy car condom.
If you're **** like me, it's a bitch to get it to blend to disappearing. I put a strip on mine and to be honest with you I wouldn't even bother. I even sanded and painted mine because I wanted to learn how to do it. With the texture I would think a strip or any kind of clear stuff would look like crap. I'm at 3100 miles and two months and mine doesn't have a mark yet. It will, but so far, so good.
The Texture will probably be the problem to get anything paint wise to Stick to it. I don't think I've seen a thred or post here where somebody has xpel'd a poverty. Plastidip will prob stick. But Id just leave it stock and as you say, buy a new one every couple years at that price.
I like reading these MODS - someone fixing her up on their own with little twists and tweaks to make it yours - Nice job - looks nicer - that's the point right? Nicely done!
sorry maybe its been answered.. is this part not available as an option on the car or is like 10x the cost if you order it with? maybe dumb question :p
It's a GM part designed for the z06. It's not available to order with a stingray, but it's only $100 or so to buy after. It looks good and it's inexpensive, that's why it's popular.
Done! I used factory bolts for now... Just felt too weird drilling into Tiffany. Ha, no pun intended.
Before I take her to the track, I'll install those widget things that push into place. Whatever they're called.
If you are really going to go to the track, you might want to use metal bumper cover screws (with washer and nut) instead of the plastic rivets.
There is a lot of aerodynamic force on the spoilers and splitter at track speed.
Tex just to be sure, are those the same bolts that are already on the bumper? Just get some of those and fasten the same way?
Yes, I used the same GM bumper cover screws and u-nuts. I drilled just a 1\8" hole and used a 1" flat washer and u-nut inside the bumper. (not actually clipped onto anything). I could reach all the screws to attach a u-nut, except the two in the center of the bumper, where I did use a 1/4" plastic push in rivet.
