I'm considering getting a poverty splitter but think it will look much better painted on my car. I was curious what people smarter than me thought about plasti-dip'ing the splitter then spraying it with the glossifier to get a gloss finish rather than doing all the prep necessary for a decent looking paint job? I was also kinda concerned the paint may chip as the splitter flexes as I scrape getting out of my driveway.
I actually did plastidip my splitter after it got damaged by a large retread. I went with flat black, so it ended up looking alot like it did out of the box. It hasn't really worn well though. The minute you stress it by bumping a parking pylon ect, the plastidip (or paint) gets messed up pretty easy. I simply did it as the splitter had those plastic stress marks all over it from basically being bent backwards. No way would I paint one unless it was to cover up damage. Once it gets busted up again I'll probably cut in half so it fits in my garbage container and throw on a new one.
To me the unpainted splitter just isn't "black" enough. I painted mine flat black and if I need to touch it up, flat black is pretty easy. Still waiting for the car that gets built next week.
Thank you. Do your friend's skirts also look unpainted / the same finish as the splitters? Or are they finished differently (perhaps carbon flash)?
I just don't want to end up with a car not looking right if the unpainted poverty splitter and Carbon Flash side skirts don't go well together.
The Stage 1 Z06 does not come with side skirts from GM.. Those are only on Stage 2 and Stage 3. I think you can buy aftermarket side skirts that match the front splitter. Check out the ACS zero7 side skirts. They come primed and other finishes, but they are a composite material instead of plastic.

Thanks! May I bother you for a couple pictures of your car with both these on? I tried searching by threads you created and recent posts from you but could only find pictures without them (only the skirts showed up).

I think C7Jakes car has painted side skirts with non-painted front splitter..
I am sure you have seen it!
Here's a set of C7carbon.com GTX Fiberglass side skirts. I painted them myself in Carbon Mist Metallic. These are the Z06 style side skirts. Came in fiberglass, paid $389.00 delivered in Jan 2015. They are priced slightly more now. The poverty splitter has not been painted. Straight out of the box.
I have about $525 into both the side skirts and splitter and cost of materials to paint the side skirts. I installed all parts myself. The appearence is awesome.
C7Jake has the poverty splitter and the ACS brand side skirts which are are priced several hundred dollars more than the C7carbon.com
You can decide which ones to buy. The Z06 style is sold by many vendors and at many different price points. They are essentially all the same in style and all look alike. Only difference is the material they are made . True Carbon Fiber material of course is the most expense by far.

Okay, I have purchased the poverty splitter and scrivets, and will install soon. Are there poverty side skirts available?
Dr Man:
I do allot of research as usual before buying most products.
IMO, and my opinion only, I found the best price for the quality and style was the C7carbon.com........GTX Z06 Inspired Fiberglass Side Skirts.
These are identical in style to the higher priced ACS side skirts available from another CF vendor.
The GTX side skirts from C7carbon.com (a certified CF vendor) are sent pre-primed for painting. In most cases, the average C7 owner can handle the paint job as a DIY project which I did. The cost of materials to DIY painting is only about $20-$25.00. These are an easy install and many C7 members have installed these side skirts. You have the choice to body match the color or go with a carbon metallic paint.
The go-to guy at C7carbon is a salesperson named Andwar. If interested I highly suggest that you call Andwar direct. Let him know you are a CF member and ask for his best pricing on these side skirts. The side skirts are made in the USA (San Diego) and shipped via UPS to you. Pricing usually includes the cost for shipping.
They compliment the poverty splitter perfectly. Perhaps other CF members can attest to the quality, price and ease of ordering these side skirts from C7carbon.com

X2. These are awesome side skirts and match perfect. Easy to install too!
I installed mine this afternoon. I just removed the factory screws, installed the splitter using the same screws. Seems very solid, I did not drill any other holes or install the scrivets I bought. Has anyone else done this? Sure are a ton of screws in it already.
Probably not a problem at highway speed. At 185 . . .
I think I'll drive it a bit and then check it. If I'm doing 185, I think the splitter flying off would be a good thing to distract the cop chasing me 😎
