Just finished the install of the poverty splitter, very easy, used plastic rivets. cost $100.00 at local dealer. Painted it metalic black with adheasion promoter. I also tapered the outside damms to the with of the splitter at the corners.

Default Another Poverty Splitter Installed

Can you take a pic of it painted? I just ordered one and think I'll paint it while I'm waiting for the car to be built. What paint did you use? I'd like to paint mine the carbon flash.

For sure, if it starts drooping, it will scrape on everything.

I also agree with TEXHAWKO and you should consider fastening down the splitter closer to the leading edges.
Yes, it is very flexible, in fact when it scrapes the driveway, it flexes up about a half-inch or more. The bumper also flexes a bit. I didn't install all the screws initially just in case the splitter wasn't going to work out. Nonetheless, I don't think they'll matter as the splitter stays tight to the bumper as is. I do plan to install the extra screws if I keep the splitter on. Thanks.

I'm finding that my poverty splitter just doesn't have enough clearance even though it's very tightly secured and fits snugly.

No matter what I do, it always scrapes a bit leaving the parking lot of my gym....even when I angle the car onto the road and go really slow (1 mph).

I've contacted the owner of the building, and they aren't willing to repave or fix the driveway.

So if scraping in unavoidable, I'd imagine it's better to just go really really slow instead of going fast (which might cause even more damage?)

Has anyone ever sought $ from a building owner for damages to their splitter?

Try driving out of the parking lot at more of an angle? Either way, I'd rather have the splitter get trashed than the bumper cover so I'd probably leave it on and swap it out once it gets really busted up.

I've tried a 45 degree angle, and it's just not helping enough.

The driveway from the parking garage REALLY makes it scrape no matter the angle, so I can't even use that exit.

Yes, I agree....would rather scrape a $105 splitter than the bumper!

Now I know why people enjoy trucks and SUVs---they never have this problem!

Hit that same pylon naked and you'll be calling your body guy up for estimates while you try to buff out the obvious damage.

With my car the gf hit retread and 70+ mph. She was blocked in her lane with no where to go but BAM. Trashed the poverty splitter but not my Shark gray paint, so in a strange way it paid for itself within the first 1300 miles. Thank you poverty splitter.
I've read most of all the posts here, I'm unfamiliar with "poverty splitter". Where do you buy it, and what is the real part number. I like the looks very much!

I'm considering getting a poverty splitter but think it will look much better painted on my car. I was curious what people smarter than me thought about plasti-dip'ing the splitter then spraying it with the glossifier to get a gloss finish rather than doing all the prep necessary for a decent looking paint job? I was also kinda concerned the paint may chip as the splitter flexes as I scrape getting out of my driveway.

It actually looks fine non-painted.
You might want to install it, and see if you are happy with it that way.

No matter how careful I've been, mine has scraped at least 5+ times over the past month going out of business parking lots (and I even have positioned my car in a diagonal departure angle). The paint would look like crap with all of the flexing it has done.

If you are going to drive the car on the street, the splitter is a "wear" item. With the factory plastic if it gets scraped a little, you can just smooth up the edge, but with paint, it is going to eventually get chipped or scraped.

Not sure what color your car is, but plain black looks fine on most all colors.

Is the scraping a similar problem with side skirts as well?

Do the Z06 style side skirts like the RPI ones have to be bought unpainted or in flat black (there's a big price difference between the two) to match the 'poverty splitter' in its default unpainted color?

I'm trying to figure out what will go well with a yellow C7 whose other parts are all in carbon flash (badges, mirrors, roof wrap etc.). I was thinking about getting the poverty splitter painted in carbon flash as well as side skirts, but what you guys are saying is making me rethink. When I do get a car, it will be Z51 but I don't plan to lower the car on stock bolts at all.

Mine is a stock height Stingray, and I added the Stage 1 splitter.. A friend of mine has a yellow Z06, and it came with the same splitter, (not painted).
It seems most people add the side skirts just to protect the rocker panels from chips, but I do not really like them, so I just installed the front splitter with the body color Z51 rear spoiler.
From what I have seen, the side skirts are only a problem dragging if you go over speed bumps..

Thanks! I'll probably just try it as is then. It does fit z51 cars right? It looked like some of the cars in this thread were z51 but gm partsdirect says it will not go on the z51?

Thank you. Do your friend's skirts also look unpainted / the same finish as the splitters? Or are they finished differently (perhaps carbon flash)?

I just don't want to end up with a car not looking right if the unpainted poverty splitter and Carbon Flash side skirts don't go well together.
