I always just throw my phone in the center console and use voice commands for everything. You can attach whatever length cable you want and put it in the cupholder if you want. The HDMI/USB socket kit came with some plastic nuts, you used install these so the socket itself and the nut sandwich the console panel.
Big thanks to Elmer, followed his install guide today. HDMI mirroring works great on my iphone and ipad. My install was a bit more involved since I placed a HDMI outlet in the center console box. I was installing a Qi charger for my phone so had the console apart anyways. Someone posted the HDMI cable combo, I ended up buying part from eBay for $15. It was an IMC HDMI-USB-CBL dash mount extension. I ended up just taking the 12v outlet in the center console out (held on by two clips) and the HDMI/USB outlet slid right in like a glove. I was told by navtool today that my would go out today that did not happen I still don;t have a tracking no#
If it helps they sent me a tracking number yesterday that had no movement. So, I emailed and he said that it would leave in 30. I just got the chance to check now and it went!
