Just let him paint it and pick up an 18 once the new plant comes online and don't listen to the BS artist in here are people trying to justify their purchase as to how the new paint process and Technology improve upon the quality I find that hysterically comical. I too have an issue with paint not on the bumpers but by my vents and Mike Furman was in touch with the bowling green plant the next day after I found the issue he forwarded me the email that's the reason why you buy from a guy like Mike and I'll just run to another big dealer because they stock 400 Corvettes and sell the most so does Walmart but the buy Fine Furniture from there? LOL
there's going to be a shortage of Corvettes at the end of the year before they start rolling out the ones Avenue paint booth unless they continue to use the old paint booth up until the last second. I wouldn't even put it past them to make sure that the quality isn't up to where it will be a year from when the booth gets online just so they don't have to deal with thousands of angry owners will go back to the dealership for an oil change and see new paint process cars and wonder why the paint looks amazing and there's including ours looks like crap

No matter what the quality people will still buy anything with the Corvette name on it.
They are still having the same problems with the 2018 Grand Sport. My 2018 came in on Tuesday and the person that was doing the Zaktek noticed it and refused to do the Zaktek, The Dealer sent it to their body shop not asking or telling me beforehand. I called to see when the Zaltek would be finished and the receptionist slipped and told me my car was in the paint shop. When I called the salesman he said oh yeah we are having problems with this but it only happens in transit. I told him I am not going to accept a Dealer repainted car. I made that mistake once...never again. They want me to come in tomorrow to look at the GOOD JOB they did. Then the salesman says oh you can pick the car up on Tuesday after they put the ZAKTEK on and I don't agree with that either, I was told by more than one person with GM the paint has to cure before you do anything to it. I think its BS to pay $105,000 for a car and it have 4 miles on it and its in the dealers paint shop.
If GM knows about this problem from the 2017's and they have done nothing, still cranking out the cars. This is my 6th Corvette and due to my age probably the last and I'll be damned if I am going to settle for a dealer repaint.
I put a stop payment on the check and I am refusing to take the car.
Sorry to spout off like this but I am angry. Thanks for giving a mad ole lady a place to spout.
Have a good day.

GOOD FOR YOU!! Chevy will only take notice when their junk is shoved back in their faces. Corvette is an astounding car in many ways, but quality is still hit or miss -- it's been that way for as long as I can remember. Russian Roulette with your wallet. $105,000 is clearly in P-car or GTR territory (many others, too).

I understand you're angry and I'm not minimizing that, but the fix is easy. Just tell the dealer that you want a factory painted new fascia. BG will send another, shouldn't take more than a couple of days, and then it's a 2 hour swap out.

This situation is understandable when you see the workers checking the paint and have the I could care less attitude. It appears quality control is almost non existent and the dealers are stuck repairing these turkeys. Dealers brag about out of state sales because someone else is stuck with the problem and they made the money.
I recall that BMW lost an Alabama suit (very plaintiff friendly state) when the dealer repainted a panel on the car that had been damaged in transit. Here is language in the award: The jury returned a verdict finding BMW liable for compensatory damages of $4,000. In addition, the jury assessed $4 million in punitive damages, based on a determination that the nondisclosure policy constituted "gross, oppressive or malicious" fraud. [n.6] See Ala. Code §§6-11-20, 6-11-21 (1993).
The award of punitive damages was reduced to $2 mm on retrial by an Alabama Superior Court. BMW took the case all the way to the SCOTUS and lost there. The $2 mm was paid as punitive damages. Basically SCOTUS said state law controls but their preference would be that the states would adopt a full disclosure rule. You need to find out what your state law is. If full disclosure you may have a windfall in your future.

it's not visible when at the plant, the fender/fascia rubs making the paint issue visible. So while you blame the QA people at the factory, they can't see it. And your last statement about out of state sales is absurd.

So if I take my car to the dealership will the dealership have to fix this?
It's covered under warranty. does your local dealer have their own body shop or do they outsource it? Regardless, it's an easy swap, they just swap the grill/marker lenses and glue on a new vette logo on the nose and bolt the new fascia in place. ez pz.
I purchased a 2017 GS about two weeks ago. They had to repair the fascia for paint issue as noted in this thread. Took about a week, and picked the car up a few days ago. Looked perfect after they repainted the fascia and reinstalled it.
The body shop manager called me yesterday and told me he found a recent Service Bulletin from GM that listed a part number for a thin piece of Mylar to go between the fascia and fender. We saw a 2018 on their lot that seemed to have it already in place from the factory, which prompted his research into that.
He asked me to bring the car back after Thanksgiving when they have the new part in stock and can arrange time for a tech to put it on mine. Said it should take about an hour, and they'd do it while I wait.
Guess this is GM's latest solution to the issue. It does make sense I suppose.

The body shop director researched it after I showed him a 2018 on the lot that apparently had the Mylar installed at the factory. They had not seen this before, and only one car on their lot had it.
It's about an inch and a half long and goes alongside the headlight between the fascia and fender. It is barely noticeable.
