This has been going on for a long time. GM will fix your car if you **** and moan enough, otherwise they are hoping that you will either go away or fix it yourself.
This is definitely not a Lexus ownership experience, but that should not be a surprise since you are working with Chevy dealers after all.
You shouldn't have to buy a Lexus to have a brand new car that has paint sticking to it...
I just purchased a 1 owner 2017 Black Rose Metallic Z06 with 1500 miles on it and it has the same chips between the fender and bumper cover around the headlight on the drivers side. After being sent to an autobody shop to get a quote for fixing this under warranty, my dealer is now telling me the warranty isn't valid because I'm not the original owner and its past 90 days. Did I miss something? Can someone point me the right direction to get this resolved??
Seems to be a crap shoot whenever you buy a GM car..paint chilp, windshield cracks,, torque converter,, interior bubbles,,etc etc etc. Too many to name..
I have the same issue on my '17 GS and GM sent a replacement factory painted fascia. (the dealer had the original touched up, but in parallel a new one was sent, so i'm having the new one installed )
Either way, it's a warranty issue.
Will you share the name of your dealer and the service manager's name. I have the same issue with my 2017 Grand Sport after 350 miles and my service manager has no knowledge of the fascia fitment issue and the resulting flaking paint. (He does now because I brought my car in but not before.) Is there a GM Bulletin that discusses this issue and the resolution?
it's not visible when at the plant, the fender/fascia rubs making the paint issue visible. So while you blame the QA people at the factory, they can't see it. And your last statement about out of state sales is absurd.
The incorrect gaps (can't fit a credit card) between the fascia and the front quarter panels is noticeable at the plant. I have seen video where there are techs checking these gaps. They must have been on break when my car rolled through their QA area.

The warranty is good for 24 months or 24,000 from the date the Vette was put into service. Your dealer is blowing smoke up your up your skirt. No idea what the 90 day BS the dealer is talking about. Challenge the dealer on the 24,000 mile / 24 month warranty and have him contact the dealer's Zone Manager. The GM warranty does transfer to the new owner.
If that does not work call the General Motors Customer Care Team at 888-988-7267. They helped my dealer find a Torque Tube last summer when mine went out on my Grand Sport with only 3,500 miles in 3 months. Said they pulled it from the line in Bowling Green. Good Luck!!
See the 2 circles. The mylar separates the two panels from rubbing.
You have mylar between the fascia and the front quarter panels; where the circles are? Can you get a credit card in between the fascia and quarter panels? If not the fascia is too close to the quarter panels. I have seen posts on this thread that indicate the root cause of the panels and fascia rubbing and paint issues is a bumper fitment issue. It will continue to happen until someone does the simple job adjusting the bumper down a little by using the bolts at the headlight. What is happening is the panels are flexing and rubbing on each other. It's an easy adjustment, I had to do it after pulling my bumper off for mods. [This guy knows what he's talking about. As a quality engineer myself [This is not 806-Corvette speaking. Another post on this thread.] this is exactly the issue. Fitment of the bumper being too close to the fender/hood. When you go over bumps, the sudden movement causes the parts to make contact. Gap is too small causing the flexing to not have enough tolerance.]
I bought my 2017 Grand Touring Corvette in August 2017 from Kerbeck Corvette in Atlantic City NJ. They were fantastic during the purchase and delivery. At about 300 miles this same issue began and Kerbeck wanted NOTHING to do with it. They pushed me off to GM Customer Service. GM was no better that Kerbeck. The sent me to two local dealers. Healey Chevrolet told me it's not there problem and the woman on the phone actually hung up on me. The second was Grand Prize Chevrolet in Nanuet NY. The body shop at Grand Prize Chevrolet actually made an appointment with me to look at the car. The shop manager said he had never seen this problem before, this is was very hard to believe, He was hesitant to take on the job unless his GM representative approved the work. This was in the fall of 2017. I called three times with no response other than the rep has not answered him. Finally I got fed up with Kerbeck and GM. I went to Ultimate Collision (Bill Honivich) located 1561 Park St, Peekskill, NY 10566 phone # 914) 788-9800. Bill was fantastic and ordered new bumper clips to adjust the front bumper. The paint matches even better that the factory match. Bill did this for $1300. If anyone needs their bumper fixed go see Bill. The Corvette is a fantastic machine but Kerbeck and GM have no idea what customer service is all about.
I should have updated the forum, but I forgot... car went back for a second paint job and it came out perfect! Looks better than new. This is covered under your GM warranty and it was free for me. Also he body shop ordered and installed the carbon flash emblems, as the emblems have to be replaced each time the bumpers are repainted. Couldn’t be happier with it!

Do you happen to have a job number or reference number for the fix? How is it your dealer had all the information and the other dealers are clueless? Go figure.......
I don’t. But if you call Dylan Ernst at Carson city Michael Hohl GMC, he can get you all the I go you need. Explain to him your situation and tell him that I referred you because they did my yellow corvette perfect, he will probably be able to get you the information you need.

I am trying to remember your exact situation. I think I remember reading your original post. You had several spots that the pain look bad out of the factory. Was one of the issues you had with where the front bumper / facia rubbed the front quarter panels? My dealer has the Regional Director looking for the resolution but this Regional Director is young and trying to learn the ropes at GM. No one at GM is helping him. I got the go ahead from the zone manager to have my Grand Sport front end repainted but the body shop manager wanted to fix the root cause of the problem. I'll give Dylan Ernst a call. Thanks!!!

you shouldn't have to, but why take the chance. Chevy means S*** for a reason....and this is one of many many reasons GM has earned the moniiker S*** for the worst of the worst car MFG.

Is that why you are posting on the Corvette forum? Do yourself and all of us a favor. Sell you piece of s^%t Chevy and buy a Ford.
