Now I'll have to decide to try it with a $3 module directly from China, pay ~$10 to $15 for the same module that comes from the US that no doubt came from China, or find something better, IF I can convince myself it's better!
My current MO is when stopping for a red light, several hundred feet from the light or car in front I slow to a crawl and force whoever is behind to watch my crawling car instead of being in my rear end!
I like my MO better. I watch in my mirror for them to look down at their phone. As soon as I see their head/eyes start to rise from their phone I brake check them hard and it's a riot to see their reaction. They get pissed, emotional and gesture rudely in response to me just checking to see if my brakes are working...
Great job on locating this for us. Sure wish I knew this last year. Could have left my rear bumper on the car. Oh well, now I know for when the new one gets here.

Reminds me of the old, turn on you running lights on tailgaters!
Yet another successful 3rd brake light flasher installation using pin 11 and the black wire, both on connector X4 in the BCM. It was a little tight in there, but doable. Thanks to all the guys that did the initial research on this!
Is this legal? I see it around here on motorcycles and to me it looks like they are driving with their hazards on. This seems like a placebo to me. If someone is buried in their cell phone they aren't likely to notice you whether your lights are blinking or not. People have crashed into police cruisers with full lights engaged because they are texting and not paying attention.

I am not sure about the legality. I am sure it varies from state to state. However I will say this, it is only the third brake light that flashes, and when I saw it, it immediately got my attention. I was over 2 lanes, and it made me see it......

I believe it must be legal, as I see many other new cars that have this feature. I don't think OEM would have such a feature if it were illegal.
what do you use to splice the wire in ? Sorry I have not touched anything with a current in years and years......
A wire cutter, a wire stripper, a crimp-on wire tap (or solder), some insulation tape...….
See post #36 above for a diagram of how to wire in the flasher module.
