I received my letter today, this will be the last GM product I will ever buy, they can fix the car, but if it kills me, do I get a new life?

I have not received the letter yet but I checked the My Warranty website for my car and the 10 year warranty for the fuel tank is in there for my VIN (2016 z51 3LT). I may have thrown the letter away as junk mail. It came among a couple of letters from GM and my dealer asking to trade in my vette for a new model. They offered me a low ball offer. Does anybody know who I can contact to get a reissue of the letter?

You are looking at it wrong. The fuel pump module is a wear item part. Fuel pumps don't last forever and they are expensive, so is the labor. You should pray yours starts leaking before your warranty expires, because you don't want to pay for this out of pocket.

I see your point. I'm just saying it would be nice for this not to be an issue at all. Thankfully, my car has not (yet) been included in the extra warranty notice. The last thing I want is for my Corvette to be torn apart, covered under warranty or not. I assume there is a specific date at which time a part(s) change occurred.....and at what point did GM know there was problem? Of course, these are things we will never be told.

I have two Genesis sedans. 10 year warranties. Now THAT'S a confident manufacturer.

No letter as of today, but I checked the My Chevy site and noticed that I have new Special Coverage 17469...good through 8/15/2026...10 years after I bought my car.

Hmmm...

How many of you have had this problem occur? How widespread is this?

Got my letter, today! Mine is a 2014... mileage is only 12,600.

This car has been so trouble free it's hard to imagine it falling prey to this problem!

I agree, had to have the guts replaced on my C5. So far, not on my C6, but I do have the "letter" so it's always a possibility that my C6 could burn down my house sometime in the future.

The problem should have been rectified by the time the C7 went into production.

My current C1 and C2 don't have a leaking gas tank problem nor has my 19 year old Mercedes, But the plastic gas tank on my Craftsman riding mower cracked at the filler neck and started leaking, at less than 6 years of age. When that happened to my mower, I thought it was my C6 leaking(shortly after I received the "letter" on my C6), as the gas smell one morning in my garage was terrible. I was afraid to hit the button to raise the door, to air out the garage. Raised the door by hand, which wasn't easy since I have limited use of my right arm.

Just joined the elite club, got the letter May 23rd for my 2014 Z51, VIN 448, I’m so excited! Do these letters make the car more collectible?

I'm sure the answer to my question is somewhere in these 11 pages so far of this thread...but does this gas tank issue affect all models of the C7 or only certain years?

Thanks....

Seems like everyone built from start of production in 2013 through the end of 2016. I think a few 2017 built cars have said they didn't get a letter and I've yet to see a 2018.

But I might have missed someone so I can't be 100% sure.

What about your garage floor full of gasoline some morning...As I said in Previous posts.. GM will always be GM. You should know that when purchasing a GM vehicle.

Like LT1 Z51 said, seems like all 2014-2016s are affected. So far some 2017s haven't got a letter but GM needs to come clean and clarify the situation. Customers shouldn't be left guessing and worrying.

GM needs to come out and say exactly what the issues are and which cars are affected.

I have an uncle who will be 90 in August. Eleven years older than you. While he doesn't drive a Corvette, he still drives his pickup truck(and pulls a stock trailer loaded with cows, to the sale barn) and his 82 year old wife's SUV, and his air conditioned tractor and his bulldozer and his Mule.

I'll be 76 in August, and still driving 3 Corvettes with one being a C6 Z06. I got my 'letter' a year or two ago on the gas tank leakage, and I suspect that when it expires in a couple of months, I'll still be alive.

Can't help wondering if there's any chance this will be seen as a safety issue, resulting in a recall.

As of late last year there was no recall (just another letter / service bulletin) for a leaking fuel pump fitting on C6's.
Some reported the fuel smell so bad that they didn't want to park in their garages.
There is a sticky thread on that dating to 2014 with 986 replies.

Got the letter, but no smell of gasoline, and after 4+ years of ownership, not expecting any problems.
