Chalk up another engine failure

My September 2013 built Z51 never said anything about the 500 mile change until the bulletin came out November 24, 2014, way after I got my car! It indicates the reason is POSSIBLE oil foam burping with the air from the dry sump tank to the air intake tube, running down soaking the filter and dripping on the ground IF the engine is OPERATED CONTINUALLY AT HIGH SPPED. The last sentence in that document states: THE OIL FOAM HAS NO EFFECT ON ENGINE DURABILITY. (That is the reason it's not needed in wet sump as no air burping from a dry sump tank hence no possibility of oil entering the air intake!)
SIDE BAR
When I added an aFe low restriction air intake ~ 6 months after I got my Z51 I checked the OEM filter and air intake tube for any signs of oil as I had changed my oil at ~1500 miles just because I wanted to. In fact in 2013 Dealers would NOT change the oil for free (as we got up to 4 free in two years) and the rule was change only when the OLM said. I do all my own changes and did my Grand Sport oil change at ~ 500 miles just because GM says to.
However after following this issue since I got my 2014 Z51 many folks have posted about oil dripping from their air filter BECAUSE the dealer overfilled the dry sump system. I'd be much more worried about an overfilled dry sump or wet system causing an engine failure than oil foam! Just read the Owner's Manual on what it sys to do if there is excess oil, wet or dry sump! Just Sayn'

Although I agree it's smart to follow the GM requirement- that 500 miles change has nothing to do with engine reliability!

Appreciate the information, but was not implying that the two were related [oil change & engine failure]. Just trying to establish that GM guidelines were followed [which they were] so that GM could not use that as an excuse to deny any warranty claim.
