When my old C5 race car turned a lifter in the bore it made a crazy tapping that I thought was an exhaust leak. Chewed up the cam lobes so bad I had to replace the motor from metal shavings. I could have rebuilt what I had, but this was back when LS crate motors could still be had for $3000.

I'm hoping it's not a lifter but who knows
Whatever it turns out to be, it'll be covered under warranty but I don't feel like waiting a month or more to get my car back!

Best case would be the motor to be done and GM authorize a complete crate motor. Very easy/fast swap for an OEM tech to put in a new motor. Probably 2 days work once all the parts are in.

That's the real trick, isn't it?
With my luck, they'll order a crate and receive a short block
If is nothing more than the rocker it will probably be 1 or at most 2 days to get it fix and also making sure all the other pieces are fine in the motor.
Sorry to hear this. It happens with all makes though. I just bought a new MB E450 coupe for my wife and she drove it for a week before, out of the blue, it had a massive electrical failure with several computers and the ignition system frying themselves. We had it towed in and the dealer found another new on in CA with the exact same configuration and had it shipped to her. Wasn't totally out of their goodwill tho. It would've taken 6-8 weeks for just the parts and lemon law in AZ is 4 trips in for same problem or more than 30 cumulative days in the shop for the first two years of a new car. Suggest you check your state's lemon law just to be prepared. Good luck
Welcome to the world of Mercedes-Benz. My ownership experience with Mercedes was an ongoing nightmare, with seemingly unsolvable electrical and mechanical issues. Also. my friend is a mechanic who specializes in German cars, and he warns against Mercedes ownership due to reliability issues.
Tow hooks? They're supposed to use a V-Bridle with J/T hooks in the slots at the jacking points on each side, with a strap like this, and you need a much longer one than this for the C7. I keep one in my rear cubby, long enough to exit at the nose or tail or the car.
If that's the case, please keep me in mind when you're ready to sell your current orange monster.
Will do, except the lack of an ME manual will most likely keep the orange one in my garage for many years to come as long as she behaves as nicely as she has so far.
Are they getting any internals from China ? Not trying to be funny but there is so much JUNK coming out of there.
Wonder the smae thing, rods, cams, lifters, valves etc this is NOT acceptable. OEM is usually better quality than any aftermarket piece...what about the Tremec issues the mustangs had?
The "giant" cam co everyone goes to that use cores that fall apart?
Buy from the little guys they cant afford to turn out junk
Good luck OP! One hopes when they buy new they are getting reliability too.
