I initiate the wave (usually via a light flash) and return it when I see it. I have missed a few due to looking at other traffic and just not seeing it so if it was you, sorry about that. Seeing some of the responses here gives you an idea of the different attitudes and perspectives that others have and I have seen a drastic demise of just plain courtesy to other drivers no matter what they drive so this makes sense. I saw a close call just yesterday by a guy in a Chrysler 300 who almost side swiped another car who's lane was ending and trying to merge over. It was totally worth it (in his mind) for the Chrysler 300 to cause an accident in order to keep the other car from getting in front of him. They eventually wound up at the same light. Just one example of the many like this I see almost every time I drive. So along with common driver courtesy I think the wave will also eventually go away as more and more people only think of themselves and what is important or cool only matters to them.
We've met some of the nicest people as Corvette owners over the years so a wave of commonality is given and welcomed. Most wave back, some don't, no biggie.

With the windshield tint on the C7's, I don't know if the other Corvette driver can see my wave. Maybe flash the high beams is a better alternative.
I wave whenever I can to other Corvette owners, but I too have noticed a decrease in the number of other owners that wave. Who knows what the reason for not waving may be, but I’ll continue to do my part
Last couple of years I have been getting a lot of no waves in return. So for the last year or so I don't wave or return one. Done here.
I was just a kid when I saw my first Corvette, I think it was a 1966. I was in awe. Fast forward 55 years and I still feel the same. There are not a lot of Corvettes where I live but when I see one on the road I can't help but think there is someone else who gets it so I will always wave.
This obligatory "brand wave" is just nutty to expect.
SIDE STORY:
20 years ago I bought a premier, pricey, almost new RV. As I learned in the subsequent months going forward it was a brand where the manufacturer of it was not standing behind their product. I was so upset in trying to get the manufacturer to warrant their poor workmanship, that I was fit to be tied after spending nearly $100K on their shoddy product. Most owners of this brand were Kool Aid drinkers.
One afternoon I was on a two-lane US highway in Southwest Alabama, when an oncoming same-brand rig was headed the opposite direction. I see this guy driving flailing his arms waving frantically, as if he found a long lost brother. I was quite on edge for months after buying their poor product, and I instinctively gave the single finger salute to this koolaid drinker at 60 mph. I assumed it was a factory employee driving back to Iowa from a Florida RV trade show. I hope my directive was relayed to the obstinate owner of the firm back at headquarters in Iowa.
He was frantically waving and trying to catch up because the rear end was on fire!
I personally like to play a quick game of Paper, Rock, scissors with other Corvette owners.. the wave is old school and it's time to take it to the next level
Haha that's pretty cool and funny at the same time, the other guy not knowing WTF is going on!
Guys here wave, I wave back most of the time. Sometimes I don't notice till it's too late,
C8's do not wave at all, I have the impression they think C7's are not worthy or something.
When a pedestrian gives me a thumbs up I wave back to acknowledge. I worked so damn hard to afford this and happy to have a little attention.
When a pedestrian is fixated on the car while I drive by I sometimes give it a rev. I'd like that very much if I were on the sidewalk.
