Zymurgy:For some reason IB un-stuck this thread. I have made it a sticky again and I am trying to figure out why it was un-stuck. In the future, if you wonder why a thread is or is not a sticky, please contact a moderator instead of posting in a thread. The only reason I re-stuck this thread is because someone reported the issue. There are millions of threads and tens of million of posts, so don't expect mods to read every thread.
Sorry, I just noticed it yesterday but I will in the future.
It was great to see that run. Maybe you can give me some advice on my problem. I have had several big block vettes over the years and currently have a 73 454 roadster which i bought new. I occuasially race at corvette events each year. Last April I bought a C7 w/oz51 but with perf. exhaust. Took it to the track for test and tune and it scared me to death. I got nervous when it shifted from first to second (automatic) and the back it gets wiggley and I back off to let it straighten itself out and i still ran 12.4 & 112mph in quarter. Now people tell me that if i stay in it it will straighten itself out and i say yea and so will the wall. I have been told to paddle from 1st to 3rd and that will help. When the weather brakes i will see what happens. Do you have any suggestions. Thanks.

Track was cold not many people running. After this run I had to leave the GF was cold. 2014 Corvette Stingray Drag Racing STOCK viewing HUD - YouTube

Nice run!
Did you run it in Track Mode?
TC On or Off?
How did you launch?

Did you use dragtimes to calculate the DA when you ran? In the post it says -68 but you're saying it was above 1200? I would think your trap speed would have been higher if the DA was negative.

it went from -1200 to -68 I was hoping it stayed at the higher DA.

Yes, this is the video from this run, and I'm pretty disappointed at the amount of inaccuracy on the video.
Congratulations on your 11 second run. My car can not do a 11 second run with a 1.9 60'......impossible to say the least. A 1.7 60' would probably put you right in the 11.60's. The last time out to the track my 60' was 1.825 with a 11.96 pass. Last run 11.89@117.92 1.782 60'....I had to work for that. Your A8 is really fast. Just curious about the technique you were using.

I did not notice the 1.99 60'.
If he had cut a 1.79 that would drop his 1/4 by 0.4, a 1.69 would drop it by 0.6, fast indeed.

Cars that run really good on the back half do not double their 60' at the end, my 2012 coyote was a good example, whatever I picked up to 60 was all I got. My older cars would double the 60' gains religiously but I wouldn't count on that unless you actually see that particular car do it.
Not to say that car isn't fast, it was a very nice run. Did anyone else notice that it short shifted first? I wonder if that is a matter of the telemetry not keeping up with the engine or if it actually shifts out of first earlier.
Also if your indicated 1/4 mile time was that far off then your 0-60 was probably better than shown too, which is awesome.

Thanks for pointing this out. On both videos I have, the car apparently short shifted out of first.
What was really strange is that your 95mph 1/8 mile will actually put your car around 120 trap speed. My car probably had the lowest trap speed of 116 my first time out with 1500 miles on it with a 92.78 1/8 mile and still managed 11.94. But when I reached around 5000 miles things changed strangely. How about 91.81 1/8 mile 11.93@117.57. Evidently my car started picking up on the back half instead of 1/8 mile with the rest of my runs. Having said that, it appears that you may see a change in performance with break-in or additional miles on your car. So "10mm" actually has a point. And I am still trying to figure that out.

With the ability to make parts to such tight tolerances nowadays and also the fact that rings take a little while (and some good cylinder pressure) to fully seat these newer engines can pick up substantial HP after break in. I've seen modern engines pick up as much as 10 WHP from simply breaking in (after 1000-2000 miles), all the parts wear into together a little initially and you get a tad more compression from rings seating and every little bit helps. Many new engine ECU's have fuel trims that are based on driving preference and history and those can take a little while to come in as well.
Do you guys always run your cars with the same amount of fuel in the tank? Bought from the same station?
