I have the Mamo TB and this filter. I had the TB on before the filter and it was a ok mod, I was hoping to fix my hesitation issue which it did not. I was following the filter thread and figured I'd try it before buying a halltech. Installed BMS filter and took it for a spin and all I can say is this filter is amazing!!!! Really woke the car up! I have about a couple hundred miles on my car with stock tune and absolutely no CEL. You can't beat the bang for the buck! I hate to say it because I don't want to screw it up for others but Terry could easily sell this for more IMO with the way it makes the car perform. The only reason I would go with the halltech is I wanted the CF intake for show purposes but the install and figment issues coupled with possible tuning and CEL made purchasing this filter a no brainer!

Default BMS filter order

[QUOTE=Terry@BMS;1594752697]Yes they forced us to sign up as a vendor to discuss my filter project. I guess my Z06 is depreciating a few hundred per month as is what's a few hundred more to support the Z06 forum?

Terry, thank you for all your work and effort in developing this product.
Just ordered one off your website for my 2017 Z06.
One question: In an effort to keep the inlet air temp down, what are your thoughts on running a nomex sleeve or rapping the inlet tubing to keep heat factor down?

Len

Game changer. I'm on Deans Corner Road in Brewster. Let me know.

I definitely will take a ride over one of these days...I was looking at the DSC and it looks VERY interesting.

Hmmmmm I have a Halltech I bought...guess I'm gonna sell it...

I think it's a total waste of time. The factory rubber tube makes for a great insulator and air is moving through there so fast I doubt radiant heat absorbed through the factory intake tube is contributing anything to inlet temps.

The theory is its supposed to help keep the AT down in the tract during short periods the car is between runs and the velocity of the intake air is moving comparatively slow. Like in the staging area just prior to your turn. Or at the traffic light.

I agree under WOT all things considered it wont have much affect. However at the beginning of a run if the difference in AT is 4* that can make a difference in overall timing advance at the launch. This advantage in timing would be throughout the run because it is unlikely you would get all of the timing back before most runs are over.

That's the theory anyway.

Most of the heat causing timing pull is from the water temp building up in the air/water intercooler. Supercharger inlet temps are so heavily dampened it won't have much effect on post intercooler IAT even if you had a 10 or 20 degree variance. And I don't think wrapping the rubber intake is going to make any difference at all no less 10 degrees.

For what its worth from my data at 600whp the intercooler system itself IMHO works quite well. The only real annoyance with it is having to adjust the base timing to IAT tables as the water tends to heat up increase proactive timing pull according to a too aggressive factory mapping.

No it's not a cotton oiled filter without the oil. It's a true dry element filter. Not washable but you can blow it out with compressed air to extend the life.

Some comparison information on the material used: https://www.sbfilters.com/cotton-or-dry

Hopefully your investment and slight straying away from those fancy Jetta's that I see all over your inventory of products will be rewarded

I agree with Terry. I wrapped my air intake tube in DEI self adhesive aluminum foil. I do NOT think it makes a difference, or if it does, it is too small to notice. I can track IAT1 and see if there is a difference at the road course, but I wouldn't bother with it.

I have one in my '17 LT1,so it works equally well in both engines.

I was one of the testers.
Top quality product. No tune needed and no codes.

Just ordered mine for my 2015 Z06 with ~16,000 miles. Had some hesitation and was thinking about an AFE but after reading all the positive comments sticking with the stock setup and the BMS filter. Thanks for all the great info!

So for how long this filter should be good compared to the stock one? I'm looking for something that is not a one timer that needs to be replaced
